Gameday Thread, NLDS #4: 10/5 vs. Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers at Arizona Diamondbacks, Oct 5, 2011 9:37 PM EDT
|
|
My goodness. Where did the day go? Almost time for the game at Chase - the root will be closed, in part due to wind, but I suspect, rather more to do with creating an intimidating atmosphere, such as the one that was present in full effect last night. It's another drink at the Last Chance Saloon for Arizona, but I feel a lot more confident after last night, seeing how this team can play. As I said there: If there's one thing I know, it's that these Diamondbacks will not quit until the very last out of the very last game. Whatever happens, it has still been a fabulous season for the team, and a privilege to be a fan.
- Willie Bloomquist SS
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Ryan Roberts 3B
- Chris Young CF
- Gerardo Parra LF
- Joe Saunders LHP
Slight tweak to the line-up, with Young and Roberts being swapped in order. Otherwise, same as last night, and no reason why not. Both teams generally hit less well against left-handed pitching this season, so we'll see how that plays out over the course of the evening. If we can get on the board first, as we did last night, I think that will be enormously helpful. As there, all SFW images are fair game in the thread tonight....

Also, the purple unis were a different scenario
because they aren’t standard. The blacks are standard, it’s just the team’s decision to only wear them Saturdays at home. The home team gets to choose their jerseys, it’s the visiting team’s responsibility not to match.

I hear it's not expected to be a complete sell out?
This makes me so sad :( This team has inspired me so much this year despite the time and distance making watching a lot of the games difficult and I would give anything to be there. This team deserves a sell out on what could well be the last home game of the season (hopefully not though)

by Craig from Az on Oct 5, 2011 9:40 PM EDT up reply actions
Not "maximum" amount of money
but basic economics, plus MLB and players getting a cut of the gates, means you have to have higher prices for playoff games. AZ prices are still pretty decent compared to the rest of the league (though I get that the economy there is supposedly worse too).

i just realized
(and i know that was a line drive)
but Willie Bloomquist is the best possible leadoff hitter for us in this series. because of Betancourt at SS, and hobbling Weeks at 2B
actually
i really want Bloomquist to try to steal

i went through like a whirlwind of emotion watching the pitch to RyRo
at first, it looked like the pitch was going to go inside, from the bird’s eye view, and i was thinking…..“holy crap, RyRo loves to swing at this pitch, but most of the time it’s going to be a swinging strikeout……..nooooooooo”
and then a millisecond later i hear the contact of the bat on ball, and the announcers voice starts to rise….watching the ball soar in the air towards left field….
i start hoping….realizing that Braun has turned around but hasn’t really ran towards the ball….
and then it drops in the bullpen!!!!
Does Milwaukee let Wolf clean up this mess knowing they're going back home
Or do they kill the bullpen trying to get out of it?
