Gameday Thread, NLDS #3: 10/4 vs. Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers at Arizona Diamondbacks, Oct 4, 2011 9:37 PM EDT

mik_medium

Shaun Marcum
RHP, 0-0, N/A

ari_medium

Josh Collmenter
RHP, 0-0, N/A

Okay, let's do this thing. Collmenter is the only thing that stands between Arizona and potential elimination at the hands of the Evil Empire (NL Central subdivision). That would complete a black day for 1998 expansion teams, as the Rays have already departed the post-season this afternoon. All we can do is go out there, play the game, and cheer like mad from the stands at Chase. By the time you see this, we'll already be down there - perhaps inside the ball-park - for the first post-season contest there since 2007

Star-divide

  1. Willie Bloomquist  SS
  2. Aaron Hill 2B
  3. Justin Upton  RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  6. Chris Young CF
  7. Ryan Roberts 3B
  8. Gerardo Parra  LF
  9. Josh Collmenter RHP

Same line-up as Game Two, so there goes my theory that Gibby might try and shake things up in the order. ZM has already covered the pitching match-up (or will do shortly - scheduling is a bit fluid...). I think we know what the tram has to do - get back to playing the kind of baseball that has taken them to the post-season. If there's one thing I know, it's that these Diamondbacks will not quit until the very last out of the very last game. Whatever happens, it has still been a fabulous season for the team, and a privilege to be a fan.

That said, let's win. :)

They wanted to

and I have no problem with it, but i don’t get to make those decisions. Plus, there really is a threat of severe thunderstorms – lightning, hail, high winds and heavy rain.

Not really a wheel play I think

The ball got away from Lucroy, and Miggy took off, I think seeing that, Upton tried to take advantage and catch the Brewers sleeping. Didn’t work.

Unless they somehow planned the ball bouncing away from Lucroy part.

To be fair,

They developed Hamels and had Halladay handed to them on a silver platter. The rest of the league could have gone out and gotten him, but apparently collectively decided that they didn’t want the best pitcher in baseball. The only team rumored to be in discussions about him with the Jays that probably doesn’t regret pulling the trigger is L.A., since Kershaw was part of the package and turned out so darned good, too.
