Kennedy/Hudson in Games 4 and 5
Hey everyone, I'm a faithful reader of SnakePit but this is my first post so bear with my ramblings. Basically, my question is this: If the D-Backs can ride Collmenter tonight and the bats wake up, we have a great chance to force a Game 4. Assuming this happens, Gibson HAS to hand the ball to Ian Kennedy on 3-days rest right? I respect Joe Saunders and he's been great in the second half, but he's not an ace and he gets killed by right-handed hitters. If we are fortunate enough to play a Game 4, Kennedy must be the starter, no? Then, if Arizona can escape the desert with a 2-2 series tie, Daniel Hudson has to go in Game 5 right? He would be on his regular rest and despite the result he didn't pitch terribly in Game 2. If we have any shot of coming back, shouldn't this be the plan? Joe can start Game 1 of the NLCS if we get there, but until we do we have to ride the horses that got us here. Anybody agree, disagree, or just want to discuss?

If they make it to game 4, I think it would be stupid not to start Kennedy.
At this point I don’t think we even know how Saunder’s hand is. So starting Saunders would be a big gamble.
And I would start Parker over Saunders anyways.
11 more wins to parade time!
I really worry
about Kennedy’s effectiveness on short rest, but am also not a fan at all of Saunders starting in a playoff game. I’m conflicted.
Goldy Watch: 48 games, .250/.333/.474
Gotta go with the Vet…. Saunders would be my choice.
Professional Lurker... if you see this, there may be a problem..
Gibson's already stated
that he’s going with Saunders if it gets there….. i just hope we reconsider given the situation.
I think Saunders starts Game Four
With an absurdly short leash. Three, maybe four innings max. Then put in Parker as a piggyback starter for another two or three innings before going to the short relievers.
That leaves Kennedy to start Game Five with Hudson coming out of the bullpen, and perhaps even Collmenter available for an inning.

I have faith in Joe
I think he’ll do fine and we’ll snag us another win
I got sprayed by Ryan Roberts!!!
I don't think he'll go particularly deep in the game
But I do think he can be effective for a few innings before giving it over to Parker for a few more.

Parker
Three games in and we haven’t even seen him warm up. I’ve got no evidence for this at all, but have a sneaking feeling Gibby will pull a fast one and throw him in there for Game Four, citing Saunders hand-injury as an excuse. If it happens, I told you so. :)
And, welcome to the ’Pit!

Oh man
I hope this happens.

I think they platoon the starters
Saunders for three, Parker for three, then bullpen for three. Keep each starter going through the lineup only ~1 time, then have Kennedy go five or six innings followed by Hudson, Hernandez, and Putz in Game Five if it gets that far.

i still don't think
they’d use Hudson in Game 5
that just doesn’t seem to make much sense to me……
how much time would there be between the NLDS and NLCS?
If it's needed
You can’t look ahead to the next series. Have to win. Hudson’s the guy who gives us the best chance to do that IMO.
If there’s two days between Game Five and the NLCS, we could start Collmenter in Game One of the LCS, Hudson again in Game Two (three days rest after a relief outing; Miley/Saunders/Parker also options), Kennedy in Game Three, Miley/Saunders/Parker in Game Four, and Collmenter in Game Five for three innings with Hudson and Kennedy each available for a pair of innings of relief apiece.
It’s not gonna be easy if we get to the LCS, but Friday is what matters most right now.

I'd go with Saunders...
the 3 first innings will prove crucial… if he gets out of it intact, let him pitch more
if he gets in trouble, pull him and bring Kennedy…
I don’t know
I’m just hoping he pitches well and we win this one.
I dyslexia (L)
They wont bring in Kennedy
for relief. If Saunders does start, Parker or Owings will come in for long relief if Joe gets into trouble.
Freeze it..and make a popsicle
Hudson has been too spotty lately to start game 5.
Saunders/Kennedy was the way to go.
Otherwise you get a good chance of a game 5 but little chance of winning.
