SKAGGS hitting 95-96 on the gun ?
In his first outing we had him at 92-94 MPH . His last outing , I received a call from a scout that said Skaggs was hitting 95-96 MPH( even in the 5th inning). The biggest surprise was his change-up. At 79-81 MPH and breaking down and away , this is just another plus pitch for Skaggs. His curve is his out pitch right now, and would give him 3 plus pitch's.I was told he has a slider also, but I have yet to see it. Stay tuned fan's, At 19 there is more to come from this young gun.

three plus pitches are filthy
still, i care less about his fastball being at 95…..as long as his fastball has movement on it then it doesn’t matter in my mind even if he only throws it at 92-93
Or even I'll settle for knowing HOW to throw it...
in the pitching discipline sense, not the mechanical sense.

To be honest
Seeing a 19-year-old throwing 95-96, three MPH above his usual range, scares me a little…
It’s the change-up being “plus” that tickles me.

I hope his mechanics are good
19 y/o with 96 mph + bad mechanics = TJS
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRt
Let me get this straight:
We traded Haren for:
- Saunders, who has been a worthy & less expensive replacement
- Rodriguez, who we’ll probably see when the roster expands
- Corbin, who is doing well in the minors
- Skaggs, who is an exciting prospect
- $6 mil of freed-up payroll
I think we got the better end of the deal here, sportsfans.
Thus far, for their new teams
Haren ERA+ = 105
Saunders ERA+ = 96
That’s not awful. So far, I’d say he’s been about what we expected, overall

I think the word worthy is what has me a little iffy
worthy to me says that he’s nearly or just as good. Over the next two years? I don’t think so.
Now that I re-read his post he did say “has been” and not “is”, so I guess I don’t disagree.
It is concerning
how he got hit hard last night against the Padres. He was lucky too – most balls were hit right at our defense.
It will be interesting to see how he fares next season. Of our four known starters, who do you think will take the mound for game #1 in 2011? My money is on Saunders.
knowing gibson
probably saunders
but our best pitcher is by far dan hudson

I imagine since we haven't heard yet
it is conditional. If he makes the playoff roster we get to choose from one list. If he doesn’t we get to select from a different list.
