Kevin Eichorn???
Can anyone here provide me with more info on this kid? I know he was a third rounder, from a baseball family, who signed out of high-school, but not much regarding his actual stuff/pitching. The reason I ask is because in a chat with Kevin Goldstein from Baseball Prostectus, he mentioned Eichorn as being one of the two most interesting prospects in the pioneer league. Admittedly, I have probably followed him the least of the 5 Missoula starters (Schuster, Bradley, Rowland, and Holmberg being the others). Just curious as to what makes this kid so interesting.

The weird thing with Eichhorn
Is that he’s 20 years old and really needs to get going through the system, particularly due to the fact that he’s killed two years from the original signing of his contract with the D-backs, so his Rule 5 clock has done a lot of ticking already.
I truly have no idea of what he throws, though. But he is missing a ton of bats.

I can find out!
I had a blast watching him pitch this week. Since we live here and get to watch these guys play each year, I’ll go and ask him what he’s throwing out there. He’s a very approachable young man. I can’t make it to tonights game (have to work), but will check when the come back from the 7 game road trip. I may be able to find out sooner through our teams media sources. I will letcha know!

Good Curveball
Eichhorn has a fastball in the low 90s, and a very good curveball for such a young pitcher. He was considered extremely polished as a pitcher when he was drafted out of high school in 2008. He’s not a very big guy, and the Diamondbacks have been taking it really easy with his arm. He’ll pitch in a full-season league next year.
Thanks a bundle.

#3 ?
When he was drafted, many thought a #3 starter was his upside, since his fastball peaked around 91-92 mph. He’s still only 20, so there could be some growth there.
