Montero has a hard time catching the ball

Stay connected for news and updates

Montero can hit - he has demonstrated that the last 2 years.  But he has a hard time behind the plate catching the ball.  Or am I just being too critical here?  I know the pitchers we have issue way too many walks and hit batters so they throw their share of wild pitches.  However, Miguel has way too many passed balls.  It almost seems like he gives up about a run a game because of his poor catching skills.  He needs to block those balls and not let them get to the backstop.  He is a liability behind the plate.

I don't see him being a regular catcher year-after-year until he improves defensively.  Chris Snyder, a weaker hitter, was much better defensively.  Hope Montero improves defensively - he has to if the Dbacks want to get back to winning basebeall - otherwise the team needs to find a better every day catcher.
