PrintAlright, because there's no other stories on the main page, I'll run down the trades that've been made real quick (to my knowledge). See, kids, don't stay up late and sleep in, or else you'll miss cool deals!
- Chris Snyder, Triple A shortstop Pedro Ciriaco, and $3MM to the Pirates for reliever D.J. Carrasco, infielder Bobby Crosby, and outfielder Ryan Church
- Chad Qualls to the Rays for a player to be named later

Some other things to note; the Giants offered us Joe Martinez and another player for Kelly Johnson; we rejected the trade, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

DiPoto is nothing short of decisive for cutting loose folks that have been “underperforming”. Yes he may have well “sold low” on Haren, but if Synder and Qualls are also gone it’s gonna help remove the “aura of suckage” that has enveloped the ballclub. Maybe they won’t play any better, but it sure won’t be for a lack of trying to clean house.

and I just came on here to see what you guys had to say about this trade on your end. Seems to be the same stuff we are saying about Crosby and Church!
To be honest, Church is absolutely terrible (wait til you see him repeatedly strike out swinging at balls that almost hit his left foot!), and Crosby isn’t much better (he has potential to be better, but he sure as hell didn’t show it in Pitt). Carrasco, however, is a pretty solid reliever, and I’m sad to see him go.

Anyway – MLB Trade Rumors reports that Arizona is sending $$ to P’burgh and that MLB has to approve the trade because of that. In a way, it doesn’t make sense for us to add another overpaid, underperforming catcher since we have Doumit.

if he fails, he’s reasonably inexpensive and he gives them depth if he’s servicable. He’s reunited with his original pitching coach (who shoul help him if there’s something mechanical or psyche related), plus it keeps him away from the BoSox and the Yankees

all we did was dump salary and pick up dj carrasco (church and crosby are useless) who’s a decent reliever, but a 7th inning type
