Edwin Jackson (MIGHT) be traded to the White Sox
This is from MLBTradeRumors
According to Rosenthal and Morosi, the White Sox are on the verge of obtaining Edwin Jackson by giving us Daniel Hudson and another pitcher.
I would just like to point out the absurdity, that we might be able to get a better prospect from an Edwin Jackson trade, than we got from the Dan Haren trade.
Gotta love the White Sox FO.
[Edit: The latest word is "Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off." We'll see what happens - as with Haren last weekend, we'll shortly have a Twitter monitor]

Looks like this Daniel Hudson Fella
Has had a rough year. In any case, 2 pitchers for one that we weren’t going to keep beyond this year anyways is a win in my book. Next, LaRoche. And PLEASE Qualls.
i think 16 innings this year is way too short of a time period to judge him
his minor league stats are incredibly good
though his flyball tendencies are not going to fit well with chase
still, hudson for 500k and 6 years instead of edwin for 8 million and one year could prove to be a huge bonus

Hudson wouldn't be a bad addition to the future rotation
depending on who the other pitcher is, this could work out splendidly for 2012 and beyond. Hudson is another middle of the rotation guy with four good pitches that could strike out a lot of guys. I’d welcome him to the desert.

we have almost caught the pirates for the 2nd pick in next year’s draft
I'll add an Edwin Jackson Twitter monitor
To this in a little bit.

well the Chisox
really want Adam Dunn, the Nats covet Jackson so that they can contend next year and have hopes of signing Dunn after this year, strange to think that Chicago would do this with the strong possibility that Dunn is likely a rental, but if you think you can win it all, I guess you put your chips on the table.
I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused....
Keep in mind. . .
on both the Haren trade and this supposed Jackson trade that there are significant $$$ being saved on salary next year. Can’t really evaluate these deals until we see what the Dbacks do with the savings. If they sign someone like Cliff Lee then it’s not a bad thing. (Of course it’s probably worth asking why they dumped an ace like Haren who was signed to a very reasonable contract for the possibility of signing a Cliff Lee but there you go)
Also it seems apparent to me that the Dbacks are seeking to upgrade the pitching in their farm system. The Haren deal netted 4 arms, this deal will net 2 arms (allegedly) and the 1st 8 picks (IIRC) in the June draft were pitchers. Two of the trade prospects are high-ceiling, major league ready (or near) talent who can contribute next year. Throw in Kennedy, Enright and maybe Jarrod Parker and the DBacks might not be in bad shape next year.
um.....
1) there’s no way we’re getting cliff lee next year because he’s probably going to command a long-term deal worth 20 million per year
2) we didn’t get two trade prospects who are high-ceiling, major league ready (if you’re talking about the haren trade), we got saunders (back end of the rotation), a mediocre reliever, a medium upside high-A prospect, and a high upside mid-A prospect

I just threw Lee out there
as a name. Point is if they sign somebody with that money, you have to account for that in the trade(s). I agree they probably aren’t getting Lee.
As for high-ceiling, I was referring to Skaggs and Hudson if they get them. Both are projected to eventually become mid-rotation guys and that to me is not bad. Major league ready was probably a stretch but both will be contributors sooner rather than later unless the DBacks sign a starter during the off-season. The other pieces are throw-ins and it would surprise nobody if they let Saunders walk at the end of the year.
Of course neither are officially DBacks yet so this is all speculation at this point.
Let me also say that I don’t agree with the Haren trade – I’m not sure why you trade a perennial All-Star caliber pitcher signed to a team-friendly contract for the next couple years in the middle of a bad/unlucky year. They traded low on him in exchange for quantity. Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now (depending of course on who the PTBNL is and who they sign in the off-season with the savings)
Edwin Jackson has been told he’s been traded to the White Sox. Flip to DC next?

Holmberg is young – still 18. 2nd round pick last year. Still scuffling in Rookie ball though
