Well, at least we don't get to face Roy Oswalt - he'll be starting for the Phillies tomorrow night, having been traded from the Astros. Though that being a bad thing may depend on your views of Tankapalooza 2010. The Pirates have already returned to their normal ways today - losing on the road to Colorado - so we won't be heading for New York in the #2 slot. But, having lost six games in a row, and having been outscored 39-16 over that time, I'm confident Arizona will be able to keep pace. The Phillies haven't lost at home in over three weeks, and the Diamondbacks haven't won on the road a) this month, and b) under Kirk Gibson.
It's the debut of Joe Saunders, so be interesting to see how he does. And, oh look - Justin Upton is back in the line-up, having apparently suffered a bout of Halladayitis yesterday. What are the odds? Limited aboutness early, due to the usual work-related things, we'll see if we can avoid the sweep. Or, from the Tankapalooza POV, complete it.

Yea it has basically been retired.
At least in the sense no one will be wearing it for the next 10 years probably. They still have the memorial on the wall in the outfield as well and as long as that is there I am sure his number wont be worn.

Yes outside the stadium under the hats. As far as I am aware it is still there, not sure if there are any others cause I haven't been there

probably not many. Joe isn't a strike out pitcher like Haren they are two different types of pitchers.

My grandfather was a diehard Angels fan so I grew up with them as my AL fave and I also like the Twins. The Angels have always been a classy organization and Arte Moreno is a great owner. I like how he’s made things at the ballpark more affordable for fans

hmm... Never actually seen that stat before.
Stats are nice when getting ann idea about a pitcher and where maybe they fit but remember that isn’t everything and you got to look how they perform against #! pitchers and such. I don’t think there is any way to look up based on pitchers in certain slots and see how they do against them but that would be good.
Believe me I love numbers but it isn’t the be all end all as I am sure you know.

Oh Saunders can be compared easily.
Part of this issue is one is a strikeout pitcher one is a groundball pitcher. so that makes it harder to compare.

It would be an earned run. The rule is “Would that run have scored if the error had not happened?” But in this case, they gave a stolen base to Ibanez and did not charge an error.
Still too early to tell if we got Pantsed...

Actually,
we are really good defensively. We just make too many boneheaded plays. But a lot of ground is covered out there, especially when Upton is playing without an injured hip.

Now im not saying Saunders is better than Haren...
However, when is the last time Haren has given us an outing like Saunders has tonight? I know Haren’s had a tough year, but it seems like it’s been over a month since I have seen a game like this from Haren.. I’m just going off the top of my head, so I’m sure someone is looking up stats to prove me wrong right now. lol.

Thing is
Saunders has really struggled this year and that is probably a big reason for him being traded (though I could name a couple other starters id get rid of first). but maybe being in the NL will help him this year. Plus it has to be nice for both Joe and Dan to be playing very close to home.

I became a fan of USC, even though it's a Lutheran school,
when I was initially planning on attending there undergrad. Then I got into Gtown off the waitlist instead.
Oh yeah, that’s the other reason. Gtown is THE premier Catholic university. Not Notre Dame.
I was a USC fan back during the Carson Palmer days. Then, their teams got more and more arrogant, all the NCAA violations came out, and… well, yeah. I can’t support somewhere like that.
