Yeah
I thought that was weird too. A friend of mine sent me the article so I can’t vouch for why it says July 4th

Because it came out in early July.
That’s why it’s talking about a Dan Haren trade as a hypothetical.

I know that part
My friend may not have caught the date on it before she sent it to me either. She sent it mainly because it mentions Augie

MLB Opening Day 2011 to fall on Friday, April 1; season to end on a Wednesday
The season actually could start around on March 25 or 26 if MLB and the players association approve a proposed two-game series between Arizona and San Francisco in Taiwan. The teams would leave spring training on March 21, play two exhibition games in Taiwan, and then face one another in two regular-season games that would cut one home game off their schedules… The Diamondbacks and Giants players are expected to vote on the proposal in August, says Arizona infielder Augie Ojeda, who doubts they would stand in the way of the historic trip.

So they'd go early to Taiwan and play
two fewer games during the rest of the season? Sounds like a good plan to me!

I kind of hope they don't go to Taiwan
I mean, we’re opening a new Spring Training stadium, and they want us to miss a week or so of games at the new place?

Remember it's a big deal
because they are the home team and they are actually playing in the Valley. I hope they don’t also.

Sorry Clefo
As someone who is a former Tucson resident, I can totally understand why Tucsonans are pissed about this, especially after all the trouble to have TEP built and now it is going to waste with no Dbacks or Sidewinders

And elsewhere
Bob Howry continues to suck for the Cubs. Three runs, all earned while retiring two batters this afternoon, on four hits and a walk. His overall ERA in Chicago is up to 5.66, with ten earned runs in his last 4.2 IP.

That's some comfort.
I hate it when guys we get rid of go on to amazing seasons.

If the DBacks tried to
trade Qualls for a bag of baseballs, they’d be talked into taking a bag of hockey pucks instead.
