Around SBN: Two Minutes Of Thunder Basketball Wins The Game

Dustin Nippert et al

Here is another couple of "superstars" that I told Jim,  shoe shine et.  al. was not gonna make it ......... and did suck.

Again, .just like CJ.......and Ed-it's Gon.....  I was chastised by Jim's snakepit,  the DPPB, website and shoe shine on these two as well.

Nippert:

Hairston

I guess that the spreadsheet beats watching the players?

Ugh... not this again.

Didn’t you just say “bye for now”? Or did that mean for like an hour?

Also, I dunno if you were reinstated, but you’ve been banned from DBBP for years…

Umm..

maybe if you could just ignore him? He probably will go away?

Anyway, a random question to ask you, have you been to Berlin?

No, I’ve never been to Berlin.

Actually

As I recall, foulpole wasn’t banned from the Snakepit. He disappeared after CoJack was (rightfully) voted MVP by the ’Pit after the 2008 season.

This is correct.

He was banned from DBBP, but that was even before he was a Snakepit member.

I don't care what you guys say

we should call up Conor Jackson from Tuscon now, we all know the guy can hit, and maybe in 2006/2007 he can be peaking.

Oh… sorry thought we were back in the time machine again

Time for another drink then?

Truly pointless

Nippert and Medders….we had a long ago useless debate about which one the D backs should keep on the opening day roster a few years ago. Turned out medders was better……
Looking up their stats since 2007:

Nippert 216 IP 11-12, 5.17 ERA 1.569 WHIP
Medders 132 IP 7-3 4.00 ERA 1.515 ERA

I think someone has some serious issues if that is what he is still thinking about after all this time. It’s really pretty creepy. But this is the providence of internet trolls. It’s what they do.

I suspect

much of that could be explained by park factors… last I checked, Nippert was in Texas, and Medders was in San Francisco.

Confused

Why would foulpole post evidence to show he was wrong about Hairston.

Since 2007 Hairston has hit .251/.312/.457 with a 106 OPS+, which is basically league avg production, for which he got paid less than 5 million dollors. He’s been playing in SD and Oak, two ballparks which suppress batting avg, but still put up respectable numbers. He’s also played decent defense.

Since the day he was traded, and Byrnes was given that horrific extension, here are the states side by side: (Sorry, I don’t have Byrnes beer softball league stats to include)

 7/27/2010 to present
Byrnes : 763 PA .220/.284/.373 20 HR 94 Runs 80 RBI (30+ million dollars)

Hairston: 1077 PA .256/.314/.477 49 HR 128 Runs 130 RBI (5+ Million dollars)

I don’t need a spreadsheet to tell me what would have been the better move here….

hmmmmm……..keep the young, pre arb player who can hit at a league avg clip, or pay the old league avg hitter who dives and flops all over the place with false hustle and pay him 30 million dollars.

DOH !!

by shoewizard on Jun 17, 2010 11:23 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah, I don't even know what the point is

No one thought the Hairston trade was a good idea.

Nippert?

He posted a 6.43 ERA in his time with Arizona. There’s a search box at the top of the page. Please use it to find your alleged posts where I said anything here about him being much more than a fifth starter or back of the bullpen guy. Because I couldn’t find any. So, I’m expecting to see links or an apology for your claims.

Really, of all the players to pick… Nippert?

And Nippert was a 15th round pick

Hardly much “superstar”.potential – most of those never even get to the majors. But an ERA+ of 113 over the past couple of years? Certainly beats some the pitchers we used to see drooling over.
