SnakeBytes, 6/16: East Coast Edition
As our trip through the juggernauts of the AL East continues and we learn that, even after the Suns are out of the playoffs, the Lakers are still meddling in our lives, here's some mysteriously colored words that, when activated using a pointing-type device on your computer, can reveal a store of knowledge onto you.
Recaps:
-
[overthemonster.com] Red Sox Hit Kennedy Hard, Down Diamondbacks 6-3 - While the bullpen may have been the problem in previous games, this time it was that our starter gave up too many runs.
-
[azcentral.com] Diamondbacks fall to Red Sox, lose 11th straight road game - I'm sure we'll win a road game at some point again- I mean, we have to, right? But it wasn't yesterday.
-
[tsn.ca] Ortiz homers as Red Sox down Diamondbacks - I don't know why Google gives me Canadian websites for reviews. But whatever works, I won't argue.
And the jump. I'm sure you guys are familiar with how this works by now.
DBacks News:-
[yahoo.com] The first of many? D'Backs ship Conor Jackson to Oakland - Prepare yourself for a recurring theme. Many see the CoJack trade to be the opening of the floodgates on the trade market for the Diamondbacks.
-
[nydailynews.com] A's-Diamondbacks trade can help both - Simple enough theory. They need a bat. We need relief in the 'pen and in salary. This could be win-win for both teams.
-
[beyondtheboxscore.com] D-Backs That Could Be Dealt: Position Players - Familiar names, but a little different perspective than some have around here. They see CY as a possibility to be dealt, but think Drew will be kept.
-
[BostonHerald.com] 1B Adam LaRoche had a short stop- I don't know about you, but I had somehow forgotten that LaRoche spent a little over a week in a Red Sox uniform.
-
[miamiherald.com] NL West: Haren may be on to something - Haren feels like the team may have already given up on the season. But, as he says, "We just have to go out and still focus on doing your job."
-
[azcentral.com] Arizona Diamondbacks likely to make more moves - Josh Byrnes said "there's a good chance" the team will be making more deals.
I'd love to quit ending these links on such downers, but that may well require me to cover a different team. Sorry.
Around the League:
-
[espn.com] Baltimore Orioles reach out to Buck Showalter, source says - The former DBack manager is rumored to be interviewing for the manager's job in Baltimore.
-
[yahoo.com] Oswalt, Berkman ponder their uncertain futures - We're not the only team facing trade rumors. But Lance Berkman thinks it's unlikely that either he or Roy Oswalt will leave Houston this season.
-
[bruinsnation.com] Rahmatulla Out for College World Series - Another freak injury during a post-game celebration? Teams need to be careful.
-
[deadspin.com] Teagarden Affair Once Again Exposes All-Star Voters As A Bunch Of Morons - Currently fourth in the AL voting for catcher is a guy hitting .264 with 2 home runs and 16 RBIs. In double-A. His major league stats? Hitting .037 with 17 strike outs. Who doesn't love All Star voting?
And, of course, Your Daily Strasburg:
-
[espn.com] Buyer of Stephen Strasburg card is sold on rookie pitcher - Well, of course you wouldn't want to spend more than $20k on the card. That'd just be crazy.
And there's your links for today. Another east coast start, so have a good afternoon and we'll hopefully see you in the GDT in a few hours.

Hey All-Star Voting is pure!
True Fans don’t need to look at things like “Batting Average” “OPS” “Whether the player is still alive” etc
Bad doormat! No stock options!
The only things to look at are HR and RBI.
No Gutierrez, Sherlock!
