Chase Headley hit a three-run, walk-off home run to lift the Padres to a 6-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at PETCO Park -- the first walk-off hit of his career.
For the Diamondbacks, the loss overshadowed a fantastic performance by starter Edwin Jackson, who pitched six scoreless innings. Juan Gutierrez was charged with the blown save and a loss after giving up four runs in the ninth. "We had nine outs to keep them from scoring three runs and we had a difficulty throwing strikes," Hinch said. "That's another game in hand that I feel like we should have pulled out."
"You can't dwell on it," D-backs center fielder Chris Young said. "We've had a couple of tough ones in a row and that's just what it is right now, but it won't affect us [Saturday]. No chance."
