Kevin Mulvey's Limited to Three Innings
For those of you wondering who the fifth starter is going to be come this Saturday, it's worth noting that in his start last night, Kevin Mulvey threw just three innings for the Reno Aces. He gave up two runs (only one earned) and his ERA now sits at 2.89. I don't think it's reading too far into it to say that he's probably going to be the guy we call up, since Kris Benson has only started one game and would be on too short of rest if we were to recall him, and Mulvey has out-pitched everyone else both in ST and so far at Reno.

Benson on Regular Rest
Actually, Benson’s regular day would be on Saturday, since he pitched on Monday. Mulvey is the one who would be on short rest, but he only threw 3 IP yesterday.
Mulvey has pitched OK in a couple of Reno outings, but he was horrible in Spring Training – 9.1 IP, 13H, 15R (6 ER), 7 BB, 5K.
That's a lot of unearned runs
And he just had one start where he walked a ton of guys and inflated his ERA.

Mulvey's going to get a shot, definitely
Especially since Rauch is killing it in Minne-SO-ta. The FO will get raked over the coals if Mulvey doesn’t pan out.
Did anyone else notice how Rauch tends to do a lot better in humid environments? He was untouchable in Florida and New York last summer.
Probably
Because his straight, heavy fastball flies less when tossed into the air.

Yeah
that’s pretty standard. Webby always does badly pitching at Coors, too. The thicker the air, the more the pitch will break.
I keep trying to reset my password to "penis", but it keeps telling me "too short".

I was going on the presumption
that the air makes homers into fly outs, but this is a fair point as well.

Yeah.
It works in both directions. That’s why Coors and Chase are always at the top of the list, park factors wise.
