Opening Day starter: Webb or Haren
Nick Piecoro discusses this dilemma, which it appears AJ Hinch will address on Friday, and Steve Gilbert adds his opinion to the mix too. Quick snap poll here in the meantime: which one would you pick: Dan Haren or Brandon Webb? Or doesn't it matter?

Mel Stottlemeyer Jr
was asked about this at the FanFest and he diplomatically said that even if Webb were ready to go on Opening Day, they probably would hold him back and ease him into the rotation to make he shoulder is 100%. I thought that was a good way to avoid the controversy and yet honor Haren for his outstanding year in 2009.
As a general
neo-conservative zionist I am afraid of change and would like to see Webb start. I dont want to wait until game 2 to see how he does.
It's Dracula as I approach the bottle.

Good question
How much of a difference will it makes if he starts one or two? Assuming he’s healthy that is.

I think Mel's point
was that, healthy or not, they would baby Webby in his first couple of starts to ease him in, restricting his pitch counts, and that they probably would start Haren on opening day because of that.
I understand that,
but i was thinking of what moving forward may be like and how much position 1 or 2 would matter for Webb and the team after opening day

Very little
It’s just an honorary thing. By the time off days and differing lengths of series kick in, it’s not long before 1-2-3-4-5 means not much.

Haren
he pretty much deserves it

To plagiarize qudjy1 lol
BTW – i woudl put Haren as opening day. I would rather him go vs LA on the 15th vs Webb. Webb is PROBABLY still going to be getting things together his first couple starts – and i would rather his first starts be vs SD, PITT.

This just in from Twitter...
Nick Piecoro mentioned that Hinch says Haren will start on Opening Day, and they’re aiming to have Webb start the third game.

Steve Gilbert says

Looks pretty good.
Only thing that seems off is Kennedy going on short rest against the Dodgers. Switching Bucker to the 13th and putting Kennedy on the 14th, then keeping that little switch through, makes it look solid.
