I'm With Ya'

totally ready. Course, it’s snowing up here and cabin fever always makes me ready for spring. And nothing feels more like spring than baseball.

Yeah, I heard

Pretty much everything in Flag is closed except NAU. How much snow did you actually get?

Morning

Woke up to a little over a foot of new snow. Mon.-Tues. was about 6", so it’s piling up. I know we need the water, but…

Yep.

And the big day (Thursday) is yet to come. Supposedly another couple inches today, and then who knows tomorrow. I’ve read foot plus.

by Azreous on Jan 20, 2010 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

That sounds like...

um…fun? Maybe not quite fun.

I’ll just say it again after seeing snow on the Catalinas this morning. Snow is pretty. Snow is fun to visit. But I swear to god, if I have to live in the mountains ever again, I’ll go on a shooting spree. (And that is why I’m in Tucson.)

Augh

I’ll admit it- I’m kinda jealous.

Stupid pretend winter…

Yay snow!

So...

What I actually meant was more than three feet, and still coming. With rain, too. That was fun.

School sucks

I want baseball.

Nah, I like school, but I need something to keep me distracted during the day.

Man

there’s no way I’d get away with posting from class this semester. Both of my in-class professor seem like they’d skewer me alive if I tried.

An early departure? What are the chances of that? If this was a movie, there wouldn't be an early departure.

by soco on Jan 19, 2010 11:48 PM EST up reply actions

Sucks

To be you. I do nothing but look at the SnakePit during Accounting…

"I've had Bailey's out of a shoe, though."

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 20, 2010 12:34 AM EST up reply actions

I guess

on the other hand, I’d rather pay attention and do well in class. The Internet will still exist after the 3 block I have two days a week.

An early departure? What are the chances of that? If this was a movie, there wouldn't be an early departure.

It's true

by soco on Jan 20, 2010 9:43 AM EST up reply actions

Well...

In some classes I just find paying attention unnecessary… :-P

It's a fairly large lecture class

And I’m a pretty good multitasker, so I flip back and forth between Firefox and the notepad I’m using to take notes.

"I can just see it: Post 'Intervention? Why would I need an intervention?' And then he'd +1 himself."

by kishi on Jan 20, 2010 2:06 PM EST up reply actions

My second

class is a large lecture class, but I really don’t want to mess with a professor that I’m going to be a lot of the next few years in my major.

This.

Especially 8 am classes. They really suck.

I have 8:30

And have to trudge through snow to get to it. If you do as well (NAU?) then your life is awful.

"I've had Bailey's out of a shoe, though."

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 19, 2010 6:06 PM EST up reply actions

No NAU anymore.

She lives with me now. In tucson. Where there’s no snow. :P

by C. Wesley Baier on Jan 19, 2010 7:25 PM EST up reply actions

No snow,

but I do have to leave at 6:55 to catch the bus to make it on time.

I wish

I could line up a 730 or 8 class to put before my 9.

I have 8:30, 9:35, and 10:40.

Then 3:00……. Really annoying.

"I've had Bailey's out of a shoe, though."

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 20, 2010 12:34 AM EST up reply actions

I'd

be okay with that. My schedule is class from 9 to 1145, then work from 130 to 930, and that’s just the days they overlap.

An early departure? What are the chances of that? If this was a movie, there wouldn't be an early departure.

by soco on Jan 20, 2010 12:59 AM EST up reply actions

Well

That work schedule sucks. Apologies.

"I've had Bailey's out of a shoe, though."

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 20, 2010 4:14 PM EST up reply actions

Mine

is 8-10:50 (MWF) or 10:45 (TTh) and then work whenever I’m scheduled after that. Right now, I’m bored in my intro to psych class where the professor is SCREAMING into her microphone in a 600 student lecture

So bored, I impregnated my wife

Our daughter (first child) is due sometime in the next month. I’m hoping for later rather than sooner, so I can at least use my paternity leave time listening to spring training games with our newest dbacks fan.

by Counsellmember on Jan 19, 2010 2:03 PM EST reply actions

Congratulations!

A daughter? Well, that’ll take some work if you’re going to name her after one of the Diamondbacks, but I’m sure you’ve got time to figure it out.

Kelly Johnson?

It works.

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 19, 2010 2:13 PM EST up reply actions

Agreement with the wife

Our agreement was that I could name the dog or the child. Hence, our border collie Counsell. Anyway, the boat has sailed on Scherzer. Lol Kelly

by kishi on Jan 19, 2010 2:45 PM EST up reply actions

But my thinking

Is that “Kelly Johnson (Counsellmember)” is inconspicuous enough that your daughter won’t hate you for it. Just a thought.

"I've had Bailey's out of a shoe, though."

by Dan Strittmatter on Jan 19, 2010 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

Isn't it the duty

of every parent to give their child a name that will embarass and horify them for all time? Builds character :)

OK then,

How about Sheriff Mark Reynolds Counsellmember. Tough yet feminine. ;-)

Congrats!

But…correct me if I’m right…by my math, the impregnation took place during the baseball season. If nothing else, a new child should certainly prevent “boredom”.

We opted out

of the “traditional” gestation plan. The way the kids are doing it nowadays is to complete the whole thing in two months. By my calculations the girl is probably the result of my celebrating the big Heilman signing ;)

No, you’re right. It has been anything but “boring” at my house lately.

I can't wait

It’s about this time I usually start running seasons on my PS2 to fill the gap. This year, I’m splitting between that and paying attention to the Coyotes.

"I can just see it: Post 'Intervention? Why would I need an intervention?' And then he'd +1 himself."

Yeah

I’m definitely keep the dog days of winter away with the Coyotes right now.

by soco on Jan 19, 2010 11:50 PM EST up reply actions

Yep.

MLB 09: The Show has been a constant for me on the PS3 even in the offseason. Love that game. And that simple feature they added last year, being able to add your own walkup/home run celebration/out of the bullpen music…I love it.

I'm jealous

i need a system of my own to play baseball games on. My niece’s wii does keep me pretty entertained though

by C. Wesley Baier on Jan 20, 2010 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

Actually, I'm in no hurry

This off-season seems to have gone by an awful lot quicker than last year. When I think of all the things I was going to do this winter… And then look at what I actually did this winter… I wouldn’t mind another month or two before Opening Day and the long grind of the season! Still got plenty to discuss here…

I was hoping the Cardinals

would give me something else to focus on for the rest of the off-season again. Too bad, but only a month away is still pretty exciting. Every year this team does some stuff that gets me excited for the season. I’m thinking this could be a special year! (just like I thought last year, and the year before that, and so on)

Is it spring yet?

by G.O.B. on Jan 20, 2010 2:16 AM EST reply actions

These dates

Pitchers and catchers, workouts, etc… Who cares? I mean, I’m not going to be at the workout, so what do I care?

For me, the first spring training game is where it’s at. Hopefully mlb.tv will air more spring training games than they did last year.

I'm torn

Because the return of baseball means the end of winter. I hate seeing my beloved cold weather leave only to be replaced by boring old hot weather. Then again, baseball…
