Interesting story from Yahoo's Tim Brown on Mark Reynolds, his strikeouts, and how he handles it. (Related to another Yahoo MLB story about the increase in Ks overall.)

Nice article

I’m always glad to see Mark get some attention for something other than holding the record or having a lot of errors.

And I didn’t realize how much he’d cut down his errors by. Sure, part of it is that he spent some time at first this season, but it’s still pretty impressive.

Actually,

I think Jim posted something not too long ago about his errors being inflated by his time at first. Like, his ratio of errors per inning was higher there than on the hot corner.

They are

But the article specifically mentions his errors at third- he’s got 17 at third this season, and 5 while playing first.

Ah.

See kids, this is what happens when you don’t read the article before commenting.

Well, Ks are better than double play balls

But, I also agree with some people (I’ve heard Grace and Sutton mention it) that, sometimes all it takes to score a run is to put the ball in play. Sometimes a grounder will score, sometimes they’ll make an error. But aside from those specific situations, I don’t mind his Ks.

I'm sure

he’s smart enough to try and put it in play w/ a runner on 3rd and 1 out.

I wonder

if perhaps he’ll ever really lower those K’s. It may be just wishful thinkin on my part, but with his game improving so much this year maybe not.
