Hester
I live in Reno, NV where the Aces play and have had the pleasure of going to a number of games this season. I have watched their number 1 catcher Hester play out of his mind this year in AAA, and saw that he has been added to the 40 man roster. I also saw a post on here saying that hit a HR on his first at bat. I really like this kid, and think he may turn into an everyday catcher either next year or the year after that. My point of the post is to ask you guys on here (since I dont keep up with the DBacks) what you think of Hester, and the overall projection/outlook for Hester. Let me know, as I am slowly becoming a bit of a DBacks fan because of the Aces. Thanks for any responses.
Also I was wondering how Trent Oeltjin did in the majors, and if he has any potential in the majors, personally I dont think so, and I think Hester is a better player/prospect, but Id love to learn some informed opinions.

I don't think he'll start.
He should have the same role as Montero coming into this season, a backup. While Montero did take over the #1 spot, I don’t see Hester doing the same. We still have Snyder as an option but he could be shipped in the off season.
Both he and Oeltjin looked very promising and just what we need.Too soon to say any more as great prospects don’t always pan out but yes, the potential is there and the girls have fallen in love with Trent.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
Yeah....
the Dbacks have to keep TA (Oeltjen) because of the amount of female fans he brings to the ballpark, but baseballwise, I’m afraid he’s just another LHB AAAA OF, and we already have one of those in Ichiromero. (Alex Romero)

Problem with Oeltjen
Is he doesn’t take enough walks to take advantage of his speed.

Me: Isn't it Alternative?
My brother: No, it was funeral. Most depressing thing ever. I s*** you not. Go look it up.

I think Hester would be a credible back-up to Montero, but he’ll have to get past Snyder first. I would have thought the plan would have been to trade Snyder in the off-season – now, his injury issues of late, as well as his general poor offensive production have certainly dropped his trade value. We may have trouble getting someone to take over his contract in the off-season, and I can easily see us with Snyder/Montero again on Opening Day 2010.

will be our AAA/MLB 3rd catcher on the 40-man until Chris Snyder gets traded. If we can stash him in Reno for awhile, we will, but I’m not quite sure when he’ll play until then. After Snydes gets traded, (if/when he does) I could see Hester starting against lefties, more just to give Miguel Montero a break than because of the matchup, because Miggy still hits lefties VERY well.
I’m certainly glad we’ve got him as our 3rd catcher (backup catcher for the rest of 2009, now that Chris Snyder is on the DL) rather than Luke Carlin.
