SAN DIEGO - The Diamondbacks still are probably at least a few weeks away from knowing whether right-hander Jarrod Parker can help them next season, but the club's top prospect took a step in the right direction this week.
Cleared to begin a throwing program on Monday, Parker played catch Tuesday from 45 feet, farm director Mike Berger said.
On a side note. I went to the game last Saturday and happened to notice all the Brandon Webb McFarlane toys on sale from like 22 bucks or so to 6 dollars, I wonder if that shows something about the near future. It certainly would be bad to have Parker and Webb gone but personally I'd rather have Webb resigned and the D-Backs keep Parker in the minors. They already messed up Upton coming up too soon although he seems fine now, I just hope Parra doesn't feel an early call up set back. The Schlereth call up this soon was definitely a bad move. I don't even think I'd be a big fan of Parker starting in the rotation as a 4/5 starter but I'm glad to know he hasn't completely blown out his arm.
