Notes: Doug Davis on wavier wire?
According to an ESPN.com report, Diamondbacks left-hander Doug Davis has been placed on waivers. It's not clear if he has been claimed or has cleared, or even when the 48-hour waiver period began. Diamondbacks officials would not confirm or deny the report. Once a player clears waivers he can be traded. He also could be traded to the team that claims him.
There's more about the team if you follow the link. this is all that was mentioned about DD. I don't have ESPN Insider either to verify other than the tease they give you to subscribe. It is mentioned in Buster Olney's Blog it says
OLNEY: Davis on waivers
Doug Davis | Diamondbacks
In his blog today, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney writes, "Heard this: Doug Davis of the Diamondbacks is currently on waivers, at a time...

I haven't
seen it anywhere but on ESPN and that AZ Republic article. I wonder if there’s a potential deal out there or if the Diamondbacks are just making a precaution in case they can find one.

Not surprised.
This is the time of year when teams put the majority of their rosters through waivers, JUST IN CASE. (With the exceptions of young players of the future like Upton, Reynolds, Miggy, Droo, Scherzer, etc.)

I think (hope?) the FO values DD as much as we do. I’m fine with a worthwhile trade, but my hunch is that he’s not going to get the kind of return that we ought to get for him and that he’ll stay. That’s fine by me as I really want to see him in a D-Backs uni next year.

Nick Piecoro is reporting the same thing… says a deal is unlikely.
