Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

It just analizes danny's main pitches, with the vertical and horizontal movements. Plus fangraphs is awesome.

Thanks for posting that. Good article.
At the all star break the only two win-20 runs saved-pitch is Dan Haren’s four-seam fastball (Tim Lincecum’s change is knocking on the door). All-star Dan Haren not only has the game’s best four-seam fastball, but he also has one of the game’s best cut fastballs (worth one win) and one of the game’s best split finger fastballs (worth half a win). Haren throws a good curveball, too, but for the most he succeeds throwing a variety of different, all great, fastballs.

Shame you didn't have this yesterday

When you were arguing about whether he had four pitches or not on McC.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read it.

Especially since somebody claimed, “Just because he added a cut fastball doesn’t make it a plus pitch.”

no problem

there’s another danny article on fangraphs, also talking about how awesome he is.

You mean

this article?

Somebody needs to do another postmortem on the Haren trade, incidentally. Especially now that CarGon is with the Rockies, Eveland has been DFA’d, and we really seem to have snatched Danny Haren right before his prime.

+1

I can’t think of any serious offers that could possibly come our way to make us want to trade him

Have we sent the "Don't shoot, we're pathetic" transmission yet?

You mean question the genuis of Billy Beane?!

Don’t you realize that can never happen because someone would have to admit that Billy Beane just might make a mistake once in a while? Seriously, if that guy makes a good trade, it’s because he’s a genius. If he makes a bad trade, it’s all about small markets; it’s never on him if things go wrong. I don’t know what that guy has on the sports media, but it must be pretty bad. Maybe he caught a reporter handing out PEDs in the A’s clubhouse. (joke, just to be clear)

Might I

refer you to the Matt Holliday trade? :-P

Beane has a (justified) reputation of abusing and then trading young pitching

Exhibits A-D: Mulder, Hudson, Zito, Harden

We can only hope that Haren stays healthy.

Also Billy Koch,

and hopefully Huston Street.

Haren only pitched for the A’s for… what? 3 years? I’m not worried about that.

Happy to oblige

Want to encourage good, interesting Fanposts or Fanshots, so am always willing to promote them to the front page. This certainly qualified.
