Nice piece by Tim Brown on just how disliked Randy Johnson is in the AZ locker room, and why.

whoopee,
Does absolutely nothing to take away from the fact that Randy is the greatest player to ever wear our uniform. If one is looking for Saints, maybe one should go to the Vatican? Just a thought.

Not looking for saints.
But it doesn’t speak very well of you when your former teammates never really saw you as a teammate.

Again, who cares?
really.

Hmmm....
let’s put it this way: would you want to have Terrell Owens play for your football team?

Nothing in that colum
is even remotely in the region of Terrell Owens’ antics.

Hmmm
Let’s put it how it REALLY is:
back to back to back to back Cy Young awards
Co_MVP of our only World Series Appearance
Perfect Game (Yeah, I know these are real common in baseball)
Over 4,000 Strike outs in a career (again, real common among pitchers)
Now, Career win #300.
Try the Vatican if you are looking for a Saint. I’ll take the above numbers any day.

Look.....
nobody’s denying that he’s a HOFer.
He’s also a selfish dick. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, fine.

from the column:
You want a fuzzy teammate, do a puppet show. You want a mentor, go to plumber school. You want a pitcher 30 times a season, Johnson was your guy.

And also with you.
I understand that in Obama's vision of
Amerika, hard work for personal gain is frowned upon, but RJ has never slept with a minor, his name has never been linked with drug use of any kind. He’s 45, endured major surgieries.
You have to be driven to accomplish all the Randy has at his level. As far as all this “noise” about his character: He is the one who has to face himself in the mirror. I will sit back and appreciate all that hard work. If other’s choose not too? who cares? Does not take away any of the accomplishements I’ve been honored to witness.

I'm a little unclear on your stance on this issue
Could you maybe rephrase it, perhaps using a somewhat inaccurate religious reference?
"And that's not just a metaphor. We're actually building an umbrella."
byte me
how’s that?

Doesn't really clear up the issue
Or meet my requested criteria. Sorry.
"And that's not just a metaphor. We're actually building an umbrella."
Oh?
So RJ should be applauded for not sleeping with a minor or getting involved in any known drug? Now we’re acclaiming somebody for doing what they’re supposed to do anyway?
He HAS had a child out of wedlock, if you’re into condemning that sorta thing.
Incidentally, and this is completely unrelated, I never took you for a Republican.

I'm not a republican
I loathe our two party system, so if McCain had won, I’d have said the same thing

You'd have said
“McCain’s vision of Amerika punishes those who work hard”?

Kinda makes you wonder a bit
Guy isn’t exactly a team player, maybe if he could have rallied the rest of the squad behind him, he might have picked up a few more wins along the way and hit 300 earlier?
"And that's not just a metaphor. We're actually building an umbrella."
I've wondered this
very same question before….
The Arizona Diamondbacks: Invincible in 18 innings since '01
If professional baseball players
need a nice guy to rally around to score runs or hold games from the bullpen, then they are not very professional, in my opinion.
I think some of the teams Randy pitched in front of were not very good. But I don’t believe they were not trying just because they didn’t “rally behind” that day’s starting pitcher.
Zug be with you.
And also with you.
I don't think they weren't trying
But even people that are trying can usually summon up a little bit more if they’re trying to help out a friend.
"And that's not just a metaphor. We're actually building an umbrella."
Then how...
did they win any games at all? By all accounts I’ve read, Webby is a nice guy. (Well, except that he’s a Republican. haha) Still, in 2004, he stunk it up. That was largely because his defense was so bad, he had to try to be something he wasn’t: a strike-out pitcher. Did they commit all those errors because they just couldn’t be moved to try hard for nice-guy Brandon?
