With Byrnes out...And Young ehhhhh
My Question is this, With our Outfield Depth now really hurting, And Hopefully Romero coming up to aid (deserves it) Do you think this will come into play before trade deadline.
Im Starting to get the feeling, and hoping now we may make a run for Holiday. its no Secret the A's wanna deal him. He is a NL player. And they got shafted in their deal losing Huston Street.
Now We could use more offense, and solid D in Left. Holiday fits that bill. With the A's needing a solid closer, And maybe some middle infield players, we have some bargining chips. Adam kennedy is doing wonders for them, but may be heading to 3rd base soon. and thay are lacking infield depth
but Anyone else think a Qualls/Lopez or even Tracy or Jackson..Maybe Montero. for Holiday iis out of the question..i dont.
Giambi is getting to end of carrer.. So they need a 1st base eventually.
i think it could be a good deal if can be worked out.
And this Lineup makes me happy
1.Young
2.Drew
3.Upton
4. Renyolds
5. Holiday.
just my .02

If we are going to try and improve our club.
than it should be to improve the bullpen. The bullpen has been dreadful this season and has lost us lots of games. As for trading for Holliday, it doesn’t really make sense to trade for a struggling hitter that you hope is just slumping because he went to the AL. I say if your going to trade those players trade them for future prospects that can help this team not players that are stuggling and have only 1 year left on their deal.
No to Holliday
He’s a three-month rental. Think Adam Dunn v2.0. Except, Dunn is a genuinely good hitter. Holliday has never showed any talent outside of Coors – his career line on the road is .281/.351/.452. That’s an OPS of .803, barely better than Rondell White. Pass.

Holiday has alot better defense than Dunn. Chase is a Hitters park just like Colorado. Oakland, not so much. im not saying he is an answer. But an improvement..YES.
Ya, that Road line is Average at best..but Look at Byrnes’s or Youngs so far. Even Parra. Still would be an improvement i think. Cause who knows when Jackson is gonna be 100% again. but im thinkin longer than Dunn deal.
We loaded up on Future prospects in the Draft, And As for the Bullpen, As in Jim’s article earleir, Really, They have not lost as many games for us as it seems. Ya they have blown some big leads.. but take their losses and add them in our Win..Were still in last.
Garlan, Davis, and too many 2-0, 3-1 losses have been our downfall. And the our RISP. gettiing better as of late though.

Davis does not deserve blame for our problems- he’s been far better than we expected. Davis’s problem has been that if he gives up a run, he doesn’t win. That is not an exaggeration. Not all of his starts have been stellar, but I don’t see why a sleeping offense should mean that a pitcher should be blamed for giving up one run over six innings and taking the loss.

Also, thinking Longer term, or next season.. Could we get more for Holiday than we could for someone else? This season is looking more and more shot. So maybe stacking up on some bargining chips or better ones, for the offseason may not be a bad idea. Sorry for extra post, but came to me after last post. Dont you hate that.

No harm thining outside the box
However, the season being shot, is basically a good reason why there’s no point in trading for someone like Holliday now – if we want to go after him, do so in the off-season when we don’t have to worry about giving up anything in return.
But I tend not to think the outfield is a major priority: I would hope to see Jackson return to full health in 2010, and would be content with a cheap but fairly effective outfield of Jackson, Young/Parra and Upton. If we’re going to chase a slugger, I’d be more inclined to do so at 3rd base and move Reynolds to 1st [or 2nd?] permanently.
