Rockies and Diamondbacks to Tucson: We're outta here
"The Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks have notified the city and county they’ll be moving their spring training operations out of Tucson after next year. A notice delivered to the city on May 19 from the Rockies cites the fact that, with the Chicago White Sox departure to Glendale, there are now fewer than three teams training here as the reason for the move. Ten days later, the Diamondbacks notified Pima County that, in light of the Rockies' departure, they too would be leaving, as their contract requires Tucson/Pima County to have at least two major league teams training here."
Derrick Hall added in an official press-release, "This decision comes with mixed emotions, as we obviously have a deep history with and genuine fondness for Tucson. With the current environment of spring training in Southern Arizona having led to the Colorado Rockies’ recent and formal decision to relocate, we find ourselves in the undesirable position as the only MLB team operating there beyond 2010. We have narrowed down our options to a few we consider exciting and realistic opportunities, and continue gathering more facts and details with hopes of coming to an agreement quickly."

Maybe there was some truth
to the complaint that Tucson teams were at a competitive disadvantage. COL and ARI both played quite poorly this April, and better since – somewhat better in Arizona’s case.

gila river
As a Maricopa resident, I’m rooting for the gila river reservation here.. It would give the team a spin to play on staying as convenient as possible for those fans they care about in Southern Arizona.
You are the frontrunner, imo
…and I agree w/ you on the ‘spin’.

I'm not sure
how convenient it would be if it was mid-Scottsdale off the 101, which is one of the proposed sites.

dude
i’m rooting for the north-south bend of choctaw scratcher bug place east criterions…their bid looks to be the best out of all the choctaw scratcher bug place east criterions…let’s just keep rooting until all the teams relocate to the South Bahamas and then we can travel there for spring training.*
*no offense to mikeb, i’d root for maricopa also if i lived there.
