KTAR: Bob Melvin's out
According to Gambo and Ash, the day we've been expecting has finally arrived- Melvin, 2007 NL Manager of the Year, will be replaced before tomorrow's game.
No word yet on who will replace him.

I didn’t expect that right now. Maybe after the Dodgers’ games. Or if we lost to the Nats. Wonder who will come in as the skipper? Ideas?

This article on who was the most likely manager to be fired first. They had Melvin at 20/1, along with managers like Torre and Tony La Russa. It was published last week, but was that really written a month into the season?

I assumed BoMel would be around at least through May, but I guess the FO finally saw the light. Hopefully Price, Gibson, and Hale stick around.

I’m a little surprised he got fired now- it would have made more sense to me after losing two game to LA, or if they’d waited until our day off next week.

The timing seems a little off but then I guess they wanted a fresh start at home. The front office probably said ‘ok, we’ve got to win more then we lose on this roadtrip or he’s gone.

I’m glad they’ve finally decided to shake things up a bit. I’d like to see them send a couple of these sub-Mendoza hitters down to Reno for awhile, also…maybe it’ll get their attention.

I always liked Melvin on a personal level
but something clearly wasn’t right and it’s probably better to make a early than wait until we’re too far out for it to matter

That’s a lot of baseball news to come all on one day. I’m surprised at the timing. The loss today was heartbreaking but less teeth gnashing than others (well, besides bringing Schoen to face a switch hitter). I’m surprised.
