oh no……
deepest sympathy to Nicks family AND to the other two occupants who were killed but not named; to their families, deepest sympathy for their loss.

Just makes you sick to hear this
Nick was going to be something. He was a real talent. My sympathy to his family and teammates.

On a slightly interesting note,

From one extreme to the other.. From Halo's Heaven:
Tragic
Take care to cherish each moment, watching Nick pitch last night as a fan I was so excited for him and his future as an Angel. So quickly that turns to disbelief and sadness for a talent lost, but more tragically, a life cut short. He will be missed by us fans for what he could have brought to this team, but he will be mourned by those who loved him. Condolences to his family and friends.

Another article focusing on his pitching.
Nick went six scoreless innings against the As yestersay and was in line for the win until the bullpen gave up the lead.
It’s a tragedy, his death and the others who were with him in the car.

It's being reported
that the person who ran the red light, smashed into Nick’s car, then fled was drunk.
If that is true, I hope the bastard rots in hell.

Unfortunately, due to the large number
of drunk drivers, there will be plenty of people to keep this a**hole drunk driver company in Hell after he spends hopefully the rest of his life in prison for killing 3 people. How could a person even live with themself after doing something like that.
My sympathies go out to the Angel organization, but most especially to Nick’s family. They have lost their child.

I hope Joba Chamberlain is paying attention to what happens when this time, the pitcher’s not the drunk driver, but the victim.

….but this Gallo kid sure has made a lot of mistakes since 2006 for a 22yr old. His life is over too. As well it should be.
Ya know it kinda makes me think of the mistakes I made when I was Gallo’s age. It totally could have been me. I sure am glad I grew up and never hurt anyone but myself.

I heard that his previous plea
on DUI stated that if he was drinking and driving again, and got into an accident that caused the death of anyone else, he could be charged with murder which is exactly what they are doing and it is more than the right call.

A car
is a lot of power in your hands.
My little car weighs slightly under a ton and a half, with about 133 horsepower at the wheels. Imagine being hit with 3000 lbs, or trampled by 133 horses at once.
Yeah. We never think about these things….

the single largest reason (among other, less significant reasons) that I have taken so long to get my license. I’ve seen friends and classmates and family members get in accidents and be seriously injured or die, drunk drivers or not, and I just never felt like I could handle the responsibility of that.

WTF?
RACINE, Wis. – Police in Wisconsin say four people were injured after a drunk driver hit another drunk driver in Racine.
Police say one drunk driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on Main Street when he missed a turn and went the wrong way on another street around 2:40 a.m. Saturday. He hit two parked cars, rolled over and hit an oncoming car driven by another drunk driver.
Lt. Mike Polzin says none of injuries are considered life threatening.
He says a 27-year-old Pleasant Prairie man was cited for causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and a 35-year-old Racine man was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Frackin idiots. Too bad this wasn’t the norm then the rest of us wouldn’t have to worry.

The reason
the drunk driver themself is rarely killed… or, at least, less often killed than their sober victims… is because a driver who’s intoxicated usually moves with the traumatizing force, while a sober, alert human being is more likely to tense up and instinctively react against the force, which is the normal human response. Think of it as an example of “bend, don’t break” in the case of the drunk driver.
