Budd By Proxy 7, For Scherzer 2
A close match with several categories decided by just a few digits, Budd took of in Power (9 HR) and K’s (42) with Scherzer posting 4 quality wins in pitching.
DbacksSkins 4, dance with girls 3
With ties in HR, RBI and Wins, the speed for Skins (5 SB and 7 R from Chone Figgins) gave Skins the edge on Offense, and quality Performances by Qualls and Weaver kept the ERA low enough to pull out a win. A bullpen the Mets would envy (With K-Rod, Jenks and Seattle’s Morrow) posted 6 total saves.
Snyders Nutty Budeez 6, Grace’sFlask IsEmpty 3
The Budeez had an impressive pitching week with 6 wins (Halladay and Guthrie posting 2 each) along with a solid performance at the plate gave The Budeez a win. Hamilton and Doumit as well as a impressive contribution from all the offense shown some light for those with an empty drink.
UofA Astronauts 3, Funny team name 5
The Astronauts were flying high on R’s, RBI (57, including ten by Detroit’s Cabera) and K’s, but ties in HR (14 each) and W’s (2) created the perfect storm for a failure to launch. Funny team name blazed by with SB’s, a solid .310 team AVG, and a combined pitching staff line of 2 SV, 2.81 ERA and 1.06 WHIP.
The Wind Farm 6, Pelham Plumbers 3
One of the tightest matches of the week, Wind Farm was lights out in pitching to take 4 of 5 categories, including 2 saves by Fernando Rodney and 20 K’s by Johan Santana. Pelham had an impressive week from Hanley Ramirez (4 R’s, 2 HR, 9 RBI) and Aaron Hill (2 R’s, 2 HR, 8 RBI) to lead to wins in those categories.
NiceCrispyBacon 4, Arizona Monsoons 5
5 saves a piece leading to a unbelievable tie, The Monsoons stormed through on the back of Yankees RP, 1B, LF, CF, RF and Bat Boy Nick Swisher (7 Runs, 2 HR and 9 RBI) and a strong wing and 11K’s from Ryan Dempster. Rough opening week starts by Perez put The Baconator in the hole, but San Diego MVP Gonzalez and perennial All-Star McCann kept them alive in the triple crown categories.
Merly Mammals 2, The Nashville Nasty 5
Ties in Runs (37) SB (4) and W (3), The Nasty took the triple crown on the back of (sigh) Troy ‘Boy’ Tulowitzki and New York’s Delgado. Mammals 42 K’s topped out the match and some impressive Save efforts (3 total) were hurt by Grant Balfours 20.25 ERA.
Byrnes When I Peavy 2, Team Awesome 6
The Greatest team name EVA ran wild (3 SB from Elsbury and Winn each) but couldn’t overcome the offensive output (40 R, 13 HR and 43 RBI) of Albert Pujols, Garrett Atkins and Nelson Cruz. Heath Bell’s 3 Saves and 0 ERA helped anchor a win.

Tidied it up a bit. :-)
The league table is the trickiest bit, but you should be able to copy it wholesale off the Yahoo! page and then paste it into a story and it’ll keep the table. The only thing you may need to do beyond that is tidy up the HTML in the column headers, and maybe make the table border=3 cellpadding=3.

Wooh, game of the week!
It’s a big start for The Wind Farm- hope I don’t blow it. I mean, this game isn’t going to be a breeze..
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

However,
I’m particularly annoyed to be a game behind soco’s team.

Especially,
since soco set the record for quickest person to completely abandon his team (David Price has started both weeks).
In the future soco, if you want to make a joke on DbackSkins’ expense can you not do it in a league that other people were hoping to take seriously. Especially in a H2H format – a few delinquent owners can really tilt the results as the season goes on.

I'm glad
to see that there are actual people that get on this site a lot in the league. I thought that the majority of people are just lurkers that came out to get a team.

I'm in a market for an outfielder,
potential trading chits include Kevin Kouzmanoff and Mike Jacobs. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Melvin was a catcher….

No.
No.
Spilborghs, I would (Damn you still for snatching him off the waivers before me! [Damn me even more for misspelling his name during the draft and thinking that he had already been drafted. {Damn you most Melky Cabrera for your all-around suckitude)]). But definitely not Byrnes, who aside from sucking would also require me to start hoping for Melvin’s continued lineup insanity.
Of course, I doubt you were being serious.

Aww, c'mon.
As the Snakepit’s favorite visitor from Purple Row, it’s only fair. ;-)
I wasn’t being serious. Unless you said yes, in which case I would have done it. (Side note: Coincidentally, I now have two OFs with their own TV shows.)
If you want a Rockie, I’ll trade you 3Bs straight up? Kouz for Ian Stewart?

by DbacksSkins on Apr 16, 2009 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I want an outfielder,
I like Stewart a lot and have him in a different league, but it’s also an OPS league where I have a top three second-baseman (Uggla) that I can move should Stewart get a starting job. But in this league with no meaningful positional scarcity to speak of (aside from catcher), Stewart just ain’t worth the gamble.
Maybe if one of my middle infielders go down, but sure as hell not now.
by dahlian on Apr 16, 2009 11:29 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Probably agree,
but Stewart also has the benefit of position flexibility, so he gets more playing time than most bench guys.
Plus, Clint Hurdle might possibly be the only manager more totally insane than BoMel.

by DbacksSkins on Apr 17, 2009 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agree,
except that in Hurdle’s case that insanity takes the form of “Clint Barmes, starting second baseman”, which isn’t exactly a point in Stewie’s favor.
His only real value comes when used as a second-baseman. As a third baseman his upside this season is pretty much Kouzmanoff with a handful more runs (thanks to a superior lineup).

Heh…. you could be talking about Bonifacio here, too.
By the way…. now that Bonny’s starting for the Fish, why the heck don’t they move Bonny to 2B and Uggla to 3B?? Or would that just make too much sense….
Insert witty and/or humorous signature here.
by DbacksSkins on Apr 17, 2009 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nah,
this is just the usual Bonifacio cycle. He’s with a team and for some reason teams just abandon the scouting report. Now they’re starting to realize that if you don’t throw Boni a strike he’ll still hack at everything at get himself out.
He’ll eventually settle in at around a .270 average with little patience and even less power. There are too many good hitters in that lineup to justify him hitting first. They’ll move him down to the seventh or eighth spot and the runs will come down as well as the stolen bases since teams don’t like running in front of the pitcher.
by dahlian on Apr 17, 2009 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
You really think
he hits as high as .270 this year?

I
love kouz. don’t know why. perhaps that it’s the fact that the FIRST PITCH HE FACED IN MLB, HE HIT IT FOR A GRAND SLAM?! or as we know it….he swatted the salami…..

Don’t talk about swatting the salami. There might be children reading this blog.
Yeah… the NL West had A LOT of good rookies that year, didn’t it?? Kouz, Toolo, Ubaldo, CBY, Special K, Timcecum, Micah, etc.

I thunked
kouz wasn’t a rookie last year. his debut was in sept of 2006. so he’d be a rookie in 07 i’m guessing. but yes Special K and Timcecum r gooder

Not in this league
but still…. I hate when people don’t check their damn fantasy leagues, I have a trade proposed to a guy:
Kouzmanoff, Jay Bruce, Stephen Drew
for
Ellsbury, Headly, Tulowitzki
I know it’s a stretch, but having 3 young guys in there from my team, i’d think that he would consider it…… it’s a keeper league btw

So
are we only allowed to set our roster a week ahead of time? I haven’t played fantasy baseball in years, but I remember being able to set my roster the day before or every morning.
What? neh-are you se-no! No! I hh I I don't even't know what you're sayinhow whatdoyou whatdoyou talking about you want me to go away? I I I I can't no! I can't I can't just leave I - ...you can't leave me!

you normally can
but in this league once you set it for monday, it stays that way for the rest of the week. so you have to plan ahead and see the match-ups throughout the week if you’re planning on doing good. I don’t really like it, but them are the rules.

we need
to start a petition, cause I have 2 minutes every night to change up my roster, all you really need to check is your rotation, and if you really want to, then take 10 min every night to see if people like Jason Werth are batting against lefties (he destroys them). I don’t know why they set it up like that. Next season we should have the majors and minors switch to daily line-ups

Daily lineup switchers
In a weekly H2H league are terrible. Each week you should have to set your team and ride it out with them for good or bad. I wouldn’t play in a league that encourages players to sit their pitchers over the weekend to keep from losing a couple categories.
Also, anything that limits my need to continually stream pitchers is a plus in my book.
by dahlian on Apr 21, 2009 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
nah
I much rather prefer the other way, because I (apparently not reading the rules, thinking it’s just like any other league) drafted a bunch of SPs because it’s the only thing i really change day-to-day, so you get more K’s and IP, though in some cases your ERA and WHIP might be wack

Ain't happening
Don’t have enough time to pour over lineups like that on a daily basis AND run the site. I barely manage to glance at my team weekly. It will be weekly lineups forever.
