All star 2011
So,I know this is good news financially for the city and the ballpark but does it have any other meaning? Is it any measure of prestige for the D'Backs team?
I personally find the All Star game a huge bore.I enjoy the pre game stuff, the parade of Hall of Famers and things like that but I can't take a game seriously that is basically a pick up one.
I'm pleased about it of course but just wonder about the long term benefits.

If
40-60 million in tourism revenue (probably on the higher end of that range because the economy should have recovered my mid-2011) is not reason enough for the All-Star Game, then King Bud’s edict that the All-Star Game determines home field advantage in the World Series should provide enough drama for you.
While I personally disagree with King Bud’s decision, it has made the All-Star Game more of a game (of which I am in favor) and less of just a spectacle (though that element remains alive and well).

It means that we finally
can drag you and Wimb out here for a game or two! We ain’t taking “no” as an answer either….
For a weekend, it means the baseball world will be here in our city, at our park. That’s pretty big. Of course, it’ll be 130º that day and the night of the game will bring the worst monsoon storm Phoenix has ever experienced.

Couch space
At SnakePit Towers will be available. Because you know any hotel in the area is going to jack its prices through the roof for those three days…

I think that this is great
This is hopefully the summer after I graduate college, and hopefully, hopefully, I can mooch my parents to buy me a ticket down there so me and my buddy can go watch the game, and hopefully another series.

About time
I just think it is about time. Selig seemed to go through the whole league and some minor leagues and an independent league team, prior to finally allowing us lowly desert dwellers to get a chance to have the game in our backyard.
As for the game itself, I wish it did not count. I would rather enjoy an actual exibition game. The WS should go off best record of the two teams, or possibly the best record of AL versus NL in interleague play.
Just my 2 cents.

idk about that
Because otherwise some players would rather have some days off from their long season and take a vacation to say, the bahamas…..
And apparently it doesnt matter which side wins, since the AL won last year, and philly won the actual thing that counts…

One data point
does not a theory make. The evidence (both experiential and numerical) lies in favor of the home team by somewhere between 1 and 5 percentage points in terms of win expectancy.

Except
the contrasting evidence is that the World Series champion has largely alternated the past 9 years after the Yankees domination between the two leagues, with 5 AL wins and 4 NL wins. It would seem recently it’s more important to be on a hot streak, with the past 5 World Series not going beyond 5 games, no matter which league won.
What? neh-are you se-no! No! I hh I I don't even't know what you're sayinhow whatdoyou whatdoyou talking about you want me to go away? I I I I can't no! I can't I can't just leave I - ...you can't leave me!
