D-Backs waive (but trade for and keep) Skelton
Looks like the battle for the 25th roster spot is down to Wilson, Whitesell, and Roberts.

So we have a second backup 1st baseman? Not sure about that. I like Whitesell, but would think either Wilson or Roberts gets it. Probably Roberts is my guess.

Who knows? Maybe he sticks around and becomes the starter after Lopez leaves?

I was looking at Roberts and Wilsons stats; they are pretty similar. Similar age too. Wonder if Wilson can play second. He is known for his defense, right (or more so than his offense)? Still, Roberts overall versatility helps him get it I think.

I think Whitesell could become a solid starter at first.
So I would give him some at bats, starting him once or twice a week. Don’t want Tracy to get hurt.

I agree and like Whitesell, but just do not see it happening unless something happens to Tracy or Clark.

I'll just throw this one out there. . . .
How about Dallas McPherson? Marlins just waived him – guy is a LH hitting 3B with a decent glove who has just DESTROYED minor league pitching for 8 years now but has never been given a shot at the MLB level.
Also Micah Owings has a 1.52 ERA over 23.2 IP with 24 K’s. . . .plus he’s 1 for 3 with a double. (Sigh. . . . .)
