Former D-Back (and Giant) Russ Ortiz honors kids killed by drunk driver.
Check out this video from KSAZ-TV. Former D-Back Russ Ortiz was on hand to take part in a fund-raiser to help 2 kids who were killed by a drunk driver. Only thing wrong: Why weren't the other Diamondbacks there to help? A big round of applause for Russ Ortiz for helping out.

Perhaps because the Diamondbacks all have day jobs? As baseball players?

The Fox
voice over indicated “even major league baseball players (plural), like Russell Ortiz” attended. So maybe other players were there. At any rate, fine gesture by Ortiz, to quietly take time out for this on Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Not living in Arizona during off-season? See Byrnes, Eric and Webb, Brandon
2. Previous engagements on SuperBowl Sunday?
All credit to Ortiz for taking part, but a bit of a thin stick with which to belabor the other players.
