Okay, sure, but check out Howard’s line for the World Series this year: .176 AVG, 10 SO, 0 HR. The dude’s only had three hits, and his teammates aren’t getting on in front of him when he does. This needs to change if the Phillies want to repeat as champions.
As opposed to ARod’s ONE hit in the WS?

First of all
I did acknowledge that A-Rod has been struggling (even though he has 2 hits, one of which was a 2 run home run), the difference is that the Yankees have largely been able to continue without him. The Phillies are struggling right now, and they need Howard to start producing if they want to get back in it. Hell, you even quoted the part where I make this point.

the walk was pretty cut and dry. Ball 4 to Teixeira was a much better strike than Strike 2 to Utley in the preceding inning.

In case anyone was watching,
the Monday Night Football game was not as important (of course) as the World Series game, but was just about as fantastic. Saints go to 7-0, Falcons go to 4-3, but only after Matt Ryan gets intercepted on the New Orleans 5 yard line, down by 8 with 3 seconds in the game. Atlanta was down by 11 with 1:40 left, recovered a fumble, kicked a FG, then recovered the onside kick.
What a great night for sports. Epic WS game, epic MNF game.

Incredibly, there was a series of four Series in the mid-50’s that all needed a game 7, the longest such streak.

want to say this earlier less I jinx anything, but on the topic of the decades that the Yankees have won the World Series: they also have won two World Series in all of those decades. It’s either two or more, or none for the Yankees, apparently.

it was a good 8 year run
without any stinking Yankees winning the WS, had to end sometime I guess, but we started something great back in ‘01. Oh well, they still suck. Team of the Decade? To me, bit of a stretch – 3 WS appearances and 2 wins is just about equal to 2 appearances and 2 wins by the BoSox – seems like they’d have to be the Teams of the Decade if you want to use that term without any one team utterly dominating.

disagree. Four pennants, two World Series wins, and 8 division titles is a better run then two pennants, two World Series wins, and two division titles.
The Red Sox certainly would have been the team of the decade, though, if anyone had won that wasn’t the Yankees, Angels, or Cardinals, at least in my opinion.
You’re definitely right, though, that there is no clear cut answer. A decade of parity, for the most part.
