Byrnes, D-Backs may be close to split
Perhaps it's just the nature of the beast. The three-year, $30 million deal created expectations he was unable to meet, and everyone got frustrated.
But everyone can learn from this.
Some say the fans deserve partial blame for the contract, because they were the ones who pressured the team to hand it out. We don't buy it. The front office shouldn't let straw polls dictate roster decisions, especially when the fans' favorites can change so quickly. It seems this was a lesson learned the hard way.

Do the Tigers need outfield help? They got a few pitchers with bad contracts. Maybe we could do a swap.
Jeremy Bonderman- one year, $12.5MM
Dontrelle Willis- one year, $12MM
Nate Robertson- one year, $10MM
Because this is Arizona.

I kinda ummed and ahhed over posting this one
There’s not really much terribly new in it, but interesting to see Nick thinks the no-trade clause will not be an issue. I reckon we’ll be lucky to find someone willing to take him off our hands for much more than a bag of balls.
However, I did stumble across this piece from 2007 where Bickley demands the team has to sign Byrnes to an extension. Goes to prove he knew just as little then…

Thanks for the Bickley article. It’d go a long way for these guys to admit their mistakes.

Man, rough news
And on the same day we learned that the Eric Byrnes Show won an Emmy.

Webb
Dave Pinto is reporting that the ‘backs are exercising their option to bring Webb back @ 8.5 mill.
Connected? I don’t know, but Webb seems like a better gamble.

I doubt there connected
We pay Byrnes either way, and I think we should pick up Webb’s option regardless of the rest of the roster.

Can’t wait to read your book…
Did you hear Eric Byrnes is writing a book?
It's going to be a pop-up book.

Brynes
Don’t think the fans influenced the front office on Brynes contract since they didn’t listened to us on Luis Gonzales. They let him go and Finley to. If we have to pay him to go then I think we keep Brynes and let him ride the bench. Play your players that will be your future. Brynes can always pinch hit or come in later for defense.
