On 8/3 Schlereth finally made his first appearance for the Rookie League Missoula Osprey. He walked one, struck out 2, and threw a wild pitch.

Does this story really

warrant front page status?

He is our first round draft-pick

Maybe not as flashy or hyped as others of late, but yes, Schlereth is expected to be a significant part of the team in future, so I think his first appearance in pro ball does merit front-page status.

I agree, especially since we had some worries after his injury. Glad to know that he’s pitching.

It's like living with a six-year old.

The injury

was unrelated to pitching, wasn’t it? Wasn’t it a strained oblique?

I think you’re correct. Nonetheless, he hadn’t been pitching, so I’m glad to hear that he is back up to speed, and I think it deserves front page notice.

Nifty

A second glance at the box score showed an Orosco pitching .2 innings that game…

It’s Jesse Orosco… but not the 51 year old version. It’s Jesse Orosco Jr, whom the Diamondbacks drafted in the 38th round this year. The junior version is a righty, but is wearing dad’s #47.

He combined with 2 other pitchers to throw a no-hitter and pick up his first professional win on June 30th.

I noticed the name

but assumed there wasn’t any connection.
