I tried to get the story up
because I though no one wanted it, but noooooo. I still think mine was better.
Yub, yub!
Don't delete it!
I’ll edit it and put both stories in.

Okay, kind of geeky…. but clever. :)

Why?
Are you doing the recap?

He started an overflow thread, yo
You missed the whole conversation in there…

I meant I'd edit this one
and put both “stories” in it to give soco his due.

I'm aware of the conversation.
And, if you check, nobody agreed to do it, so I did it.

Hardly
the only difference was you were trying to post in the middle of the inning so you had more to talk about.
Yub, yub!
Or else....
Rauch was having trouble until I posted the OF thread, at which point he finished off the Padres to end the inning…..

Lyon’s meltdown is clearly the fault of his OF thread… :-)

Well....
I kept Rauch from losing it in the 8th, to give us a chance in the 9th….
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.
Of course,
allowing the Padres to tie in the 8th would have allowed Adam Dunn to smack the walkoff homer in the 9th….

Hard to think Dunn is such a power hitter. He looks dorky up at bat.
It's like living with a six-year old.
But
he’s HUGE!

Since Maddux left for LA,
Chad Reinke will oppose Webb on Thurs. I think Reinke has had only one start this year, a win on Sat. against Philly. He went 5 innings and 102 pitches, gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Webby going for #19!
3-11, 5.47 ERA against us

He wasn't worked in like a week
Gotta keep him sharp
Well, it's gonna be totally awesome,
if we need him for a save situation tomorrow, and the next day, and then the next day, and the next day…. etc.
If you want him to get work in, pitch him on Sunday — before the offday.
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.
by DbacksSkins on Aug 20, 2008 12:35 AM EDT up reply actions
I don't disagree.
But it’s a slippery slope at this point. We might also not have a save situation until five days from now.
You're assuming one thing here.....
That we have a manager smart enough to think about things like that….
Blast!
Forgot about that.
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.
by DbacksSkins on Aug 20, 2008 12:37 AM EDT up reply actions
Except that
as Azreous already pointed out, we don’t know when he’d be able to get work. It’s pretty simple.
Yub, yub!
No.
Logic tells me that if you want your closer to get in work, you pitch him the day before the off day.
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.
by DbacksSkins on Aug 20, 2008 12:39 AM EDT up reply actions
Not that part
about needing him tomorrow and the next and the next. No one knows when the next save is coming, and so before an off day might be optimal it isn’t going change anything. Of course, it’s easier to assume you’re smarter than the manager.
Yub, yub!
Except
that giving him work the day before an offday means that, while it might not necessarily be helpful to give him that extra day, if you end up needing him for a bunch of save situations in a row, it won’t hurt, either.
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.
by DbacksSkins on Aug 20, 2008 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions
This is true
but this is always hinged on what will happen in the future, and unfortunately as this game showed, who know which player we’re going to get. The only good thing about Sunday, though, is that it already was a losing game, so it’s not like he’d do anything but make it worse.
Yub, yub!
I wonder what
His record this year is in save situations versus non-save ones?

I just meant the end of him trying to close out ballgames.
Feels like he’s been 2002 Kim level awful the past month.

Sometimes
but the entire bullpen has been rocky all year. Sometimes they’re great (like Qualls showed tonight) and sometimes they’re just awful. It’d be nice to have some consistancy, and I imagine this will be the first thing they try and fix in the offseason.
Not that I think the offseason is close, mind you…
Yub, yub!
Wasn't
2002 Kim pretty good?

Seriously, people!
I go downstairs for half an inning, and you guys almost let them come back to win it? I’m disappointed.
Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?
Get kishi!
It’s clearly your fault for going downstairs for half an inning. You are not allowed to do that for the rest of the season, y’hear me? :-)

If the team's chances depend on it
I’m going to need a collection to subsidize, among other things, a minifridge upstairs. And a good explanation to my wife.
Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?
I have a mini-fridge. It might look familiar to Mrs. Kishi.

And the Dodgers go down 1-2-3 in the ninth
Thanks, Rockies!
Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?
It's still
tempting fate….. the Dodgers had to face Jimenez tonight.
Nice to savor this, if only for one more day, though.

So...
One minute after I posted in the previous thread all my services from Cox went out. No phone, no tv, no internet. Should I thank them for sparing me the stressful ending to this game? Yikes.
