Johnson thinking of 300 wins, future
"As we come toward the end - I can't say I'll be playing for three or four more years, so we're coming to the end - any athlete's ideal way (to retire) would be to be somewhat successful, be healthy and say, 'All right, I've had enough and I've done everything I can possibly do.' It would be a good time to go out on my terms. I'm healthy. I can still play if I want. That's the scenario that I think about."

Works for me.
Come on back for one more season, Randy. $5 million. Hometown discount, and you can finish your career in the cap you’ll go into the Hall of Fame in. Everyone’s happy.

Something that was linked over at Purple Row:

Even though it’s about Helton, the quotes and personal experience come from Randy. Interesting read.

The way Randy is pitching right now
I am all for him coming back next year. He has been very consistent since the All Star break. He has been much better than Davis or our 5th starters. Give him one more season to break 300. I think he would help our team and we owe it to him. The first Dback to enter the Hall of Fame.

If the price is good, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing Randy back next season. He’s pitching better this year than I thought he would have, and he’s probably going to get closer to 300 than I expected- I thought we’d see 10 to 12 wins out of him this year.
Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?

Not even a question
Yes.
He can pitch every 10th game, I don’t care. the answer is without doubt still yes.
Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong.
