Even when Dunn goes down swinging
he still just completely changes the ebb and flow of the game.
Obviously, at the end of the game he’s going to have to hit, but just with his batting eye he’s going to change the way that opposing pitchers face our lineup.
by dahlian on Aug 12, 2008 11:38 PM EDT 0 recs
Yeah
He’s taken at least 30 pitches all by himself tonight. That’s almost 1/3 of a starting pitcher.

Wow
Young/Reynolds typically don’t see 30 pitches in a span of 2-3 days. =P

I kind of hope that they might take a little time to watch Dunn at the plate and take some notes.
Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?

Very Dunnish.
2 walks, 2 Ks, and a bloop double that…. should have scored two runs.

He walks and hits home runs.
So, even though he strikes out, he’s the anti-Dbacks.

For the most part,
our MO, outside of April, has been…. either strike out, or hit doubles.

And when he gets to two strikes
he doesn’t swing at anything like Reynolds and Young do.
He whiffs a ton, but I think he’s only swung at a ball out of the zone once tonight.

Impressive
He’s worked the count to 3 and 2 in 5 different at-bats tonight. I’m just gonna keep saying that until it doesn’t sound so crazy.

He caught that one just now.
Early a ball went over his head and bounced either right in front of the wall or hit the wall and bounced back.

Nothing really to note.
He had a double go over his head and bounce off the base of the wall early on, but in the replay it didn’t look like he would have had a chance anyways.

Dunn
Though two strike outs, he’s been on base 3 times.. Man, that’s great for us!! I am going to like having him. THough i noticed on the other thread it may be Owings gone, but oh well, we needed to make a move, and i really like it.

with his third hit of the night.
Should have been a double, but Tracy thought it was gone, so it ended up being a single.
