Hello

Bit of a lurker?

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.

You're at work right now?

Which part of the world, if I may?

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.

by DbacksSkins on Aug 12, 2008 11:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Arizona

I work at the University of Phoenix. But, I word the Asia division. So, we work 8-5 Japan time. 3-midnight AZ time.

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:42 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

First, Muu?

Even when Dunn goes down swinging

he still just completely changes the ebb and flow of the game.

Obviously, at the end of the game he’s going to have to hit, but just with his batting eye he’s going to change the way that opposing pitchers face our lineup.

by dahlian on Aug 12, 2008 11:38 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah

He’s taken at least 30 pitches all by himself tonight. That’s almost 1/3 of a starting pitcher.

by Scrbl on Aug 12, 2008 11:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Wow

Young/Reynolds typically don’t see 30 pitches in a span of 2-3 days. =P

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:45 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I kind of hope that they might take a little time to watch Dunn at the plate and take some notes.

Am I avoiding the subject, or am I doing philosophy?

by kishi on Aug 13, 2008 12:01 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

one gone

Dunn

How has he looked at the plate today?

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:39 PM EDT   0 recs

He’s a beast. Great eye etc…

by foulpole on Aug 12, 2008 11:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Very Dunnish.

2 walks, 2 Ks, and a bloop double that…. should have scored two runs.

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.

by DbacksSkins on Aug 12, 2008 11:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Would seem to have

Had a good eye, from what I can tell. Five full counts of 3-2 tonight, I think.

by Jim McLennan on Aug 12, 2008 11:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Sounds like

He’s going to be a good pick up for us.

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He walks and hits home runs.

So, even though he strikes out, he’s the anti-Dbacks.

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.

by DbacksSkins on Aug 12, 2008 11:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Lol

Amen to that!

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

For the most part,

our MO, outside of April, has been…. either strike out, or hit doubles.

Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers: Filling the dubious shoes left open by Barry Bonds and the Giants.

by DbacksSkins on Aug 12, 2008 11:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

That

Is extremely true. But, it’s painful to think about. Can we just pretend it didn’t happen?

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:48 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He’s a beast!

by foulpole on Aug 12, 2008 11:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

We haven’t had a threat like him since Gonzo in his prime.

by foulpole on Aug 12, 2008 11:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

And when he gets to two strikes

he doesn’t swing at anything like Reynolds and Young do.

He whiffs a ton, but I think he’s only swung at a ball out of the zone once tonight.

by dahlian on Aug 12, 2008 11:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Awesome

We need more high OBP guys.

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Impressive

He’s worked the count to 3 and 2 in 5 different at-bats tonight. I’m just gonna keep saying that until it doesn’t sound so crazy.

What about the defense?

The team that disappoints, the Arizona Diamondbacks.

by srdmad on Aug 12, 2008 11:45 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He caught that one just now.

Early a ball went over his head and bounced either right in front of the wall or hit the wall and bounced back.

by TwinnerA on Aug 12, 2008 11:48 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Below average.

by foulpole on Aug 12, 2008 11:48 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Nothing really to note.

He had a double go over his head and bounce off the base of the wall early on, but in the replay it didn’t look like he would have had a chance anyways.

Dunn

Though two strike outs, he’s been on base 3 times.. Man, that’s great for us!! I am going to like having him. THough i noticed on the other thread it may be Owings gone, but oh well, we needed to make a move, and i really like it.

Very true

We are still getting Upton back. He hasn’t shown it yet. But, he is going to be ridiculously good. Maybe the time off will be just what he needed.

Granted,

it might have been pretty awesome, with both Dunn AND Hudson.

Wow

They just mentioned on the radio that Reynolds has 149 k’s on the season….that’s ridiculous.

Not knocking on Reynolds though. I like him.

by seanprh on Aug 12, 2008 11:50 PM EDT   0 recs

Reynolds layed off that 1-2!

Sweet!

Geez!

Tracy

with his third hit of the night.

Should have been a double, but Tracy thought it was gone, so it ended up being a single.

more than his share of those type of base running blunders.

But at least he’s not Conor Jackson!
