Once again

what a stupid move by the front office. Although I think the Dodgers might have us beat if they decide to trade some young talent for Jack Wilson…

And Burke is still on the roster!?

By all means hit at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.

Precisely the mystery. Someone call Scooby-Doo and the gang.

That actually might explain a lot

does the FO need some “scooby snacks” after they make roster moves?

By all means hit at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.

In a "smoke-filled room"?

Just to save you clicking through the link

Title of the post amended to reflect both moves:

The D-backs also optioned relief pitcher Connor Robertson back down to Tucson. Robertson allowed one run on two hits in four innings in the first Major League action of his career. He was recalled on Tuesday to give the bullpen a breather. In Salazar’s and Robertson’s place, the D-backs recalled outfielder Alex Romero and infielder Emilio Bonifacio.
Because, after all – Romero is so much better than Salazar. Sheesh. My confidence in the front office – already shaken by the results of the off-season moves – is beginning to evaporate, in particular with every day Burke remains on the roster.

To play the devil's advocate...

I understand the FO’s thinking. Burke may be a vortex of suck offensively, but he is an above average fielder in the infield and the outfield. It’s not like Salazar was setting the world on fire with his hitting this year either, so it comes down to defense. Burke is more verstatile. Does Burke have any options left?

There’s really not that much difference between Salazar and Romero. Romero is 3 years younger than Salazar. Salazar showed a lot of power in the low minors, hitting 29 in A ball. Outside that year, his career high is 14 in A+ and AA. It should be noted that he played those two years, and two and half years of AAA in the extremely hitting friendly California, Texas, and PCL. The only time Romero has played in a hitter friendly enviroment has been since he’s been acquired by the Diamondbacks, where he’s played in the PCL for Tucson. All though Romero has less power than Salazar, he can hit for a higher batting average and makes more contact. With the amount of Ks this team can rack up offensively, I suppose a solid contact hitter couldn’t hurt.

I’m not sure if calling up Bonifacio is that bad of an idea. If he actually does get some hits, and takes a walk or two here there… his presence on the base path my provide some spark to this team.

What I would like the team to do next is DFA Burke and call up Rusty Ryal or D’antona. . Both are verstatile defensively, and it would be an upgrade over Burke offensively

Loosing Sally is sad but...

He really hasn’t done much this year and he really doesn’t play a big part in our future. He is a good 4th outfielder with a below average bat. I am glad Bonifacio will get a shot to contribute. Hopefully Sally isn’t picked up and goes to AAA but I would be surprised.

As for Romero, I am not too thrilled with him at this point. I think Romero and Salazar are about even. I personally hope we make a trade for a power hitting outfielder that can play LF (Dunn, etc.) and let Byrnes be the 4th outfielder next year. I know this won’t happen and I am dreaming but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

Heck, JB won’t man up and do the right thing with Burke, do you honestly think they’d do the right thing with Byrnes?

No, just dreaming.

If my dream came true, Burke would be part of the trade.
