24 Hours of Trades
Woke up this morning to the news that the Dodgers have acquired Casey Blake, (opens in a new window), and this coming down from last night's news that the Yankees went and got Xavier Nady and a Bullpen Arm for four prospects (Also opens in a new window).
I find both of these pieces of news unsettling, as the Yankees have given up a lot, granted, they filled their needs nicely, and the Blake trade provides a solid bat, something the Dodgers haven't had too much of.
Do you feel like the Blake trade is going to force our hand in the trade market? And if it does. does that Nady trade make our price go higher to add a quality bat at a impact position?

I think it
definitely puts the screws on Josh Byrnes to keep up, but I hope he doesn’t sell the farm to make a move. One of our question marks, the offense, is starting to come around but I’d still like to see another piece come in if possible. The other question is the bullpen, but should correct itself since everyone is injured.

For hilarity's sake
Boston is trying to move Manny once again. If the price was right, would people want him?

Our travel secretary votes no.

Maybe the Diamondbacks should just sign me...

We can always hire
new travel secretaries. For instance, I’d gladly take the job.

The key is
“if the price is right”. To me, that means Chris Burke and a bucket of balls.

I note
That Ohlendorf was a key component in the Yankees trade: didn’t we send him to NY as part of the trade for Johnson?
With the offense coming around, I am optimistic we needn’t rush into anything. April showed what we are capable of doing, and the offense in the past couple of weeks has been not far short of those levels. If it wasn’t for the bullpen [charged with four of the last five AZ losses], we would be a good bit better off in the standings than we are – that issue has already been addressed with the addition of Rauch, and the impending return of Cruz will also help.

The reaction I’ve seen online goes like this:
Yankees fans: Seriously? Seriously?!? YES!
Tigers fans: [Redacted by profanity filter]

I don't think this really does much for either
I mean Pudge is well on his way off into the sunset, and Farnsworth is well Farnsworth

Pudge is still hitting .295. Since Jose Molina and Chad Moeller are hitting .226 and .227, respectively, he’s a definite upgrade.

Anyone remember
when Chad Moeller was our offensive catcher and Rod Barajas was our defensive catcher?

I'm still waiting to see what the Reds got
I don’t think it makes much sense for the White Sox… unless they’re going to move him, Swisher, or Konerko to 3rd.

Most pundits are speculating
That it’s Konerko who gets booted to the bench
So...time for another drink then?
