Dbacks pursuing Jason Bay?

Here is an excerpt from an article on FanNation about the Dbacks pursuing Jason Bay.

"The Diamondbacks and Cardinals are among the most ardent pursuers of Pirates star outfielder Jason Bay, SI.com has learned. The Mets and Rays, who also seek an outfielder, are among other teams thought to have checked in with the Pirates. Pittsburgh also has emerging star Xavier Nady, yet another fine outfielder, as a potential trade target. "There's been a great amount of interest in a couple of our right-handed hitters,'' Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said on Thursday, apparently referring to Bay and Nady."

I would love to hear everyones thoughts about having Bay in Sedona Red.  I know there has also been talks of Xavier Nady being on the trading block for the Pirates.  Both are Outfielders with some pop in thier bats.  I wouldn't mind a move for one of these guys to add some offense.

It all depends

They’re both 29 years old. Nady is cheap: $3.3M on the season. Bay is also reasonable: $6M on the season. Nady’s career OPS is a worrisome 788 (and as has been well documented, it is much worse in the 2nd half); Bay’s is 895.
I don’t mind going after either of them, but in terms of value, I think the D’Antona/CoJack/Tracy combination at 1B/LF is superior. It’s likely we’ll have to give up something fairly substantial for either of them.

Doesn't appear Bay is on the radar

“An online report that had the Diamondbacks aggressively pursuing Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Jason Bay, one of the top outfielders believed to be available for trade, was inaccurate, a club executive said.”—Link

If we go after someone, I think it needs to be somebody with a bit of position flexibility, who can also play center and/or right. I’m fine with Jackson in left, it’s more the offensive black holes which have been Young and Upton the past month that bother me.

I am also fine with Tracy at 1B and CoJack in LF

Young and Upton on the other hand look lost at the plate. I know Nady has played some IF in the past.

Too bad

I’d 100% rather have Bay than Byrnes. Too bad that isn’t the choice.

Fire Bob Melvin. Fire A.J. Hinch. Eric Byrnes Sucks.

From one story I saw,

they denied the Bay report but mentioned Raul Ibanez.

Mark Reynolds: back to turning me gay.

Jason Bay

While living here in Pennsylvania I’ve been able to see the Pirates pretty regularly and I’ve got to say I like Jason Bay a lot. I think he’d fit in well in Arizona but I really think the Pirates would want too much for him in return. He’s not worth raiding the farm system. Maybe it’s because of the downfall of the Suns this season because of a mid-season trade, but I’m really nervous about the DBacks making a bad move at the deadline.
