Worst three-game streak in franchise history? Could be. We've conceded more runs before - September 21-23, 2002, when we allowed 15, 11 and 13 - but there, we scored sixteen runs while conceding 39 [and two of those games were at Coors]. Here, we have just seven on our side, while our pitchers have allowed 35. I can't think of a more depressing sequence of brutal and one-sided defeats. Thanks to Azreous for shouldering the recap on this one: I just went home and straight to bed, hoping for better things today - they certainly can't get any worse. 'Nuff said.

Look for me...

on tv tonight. Not with a sign or anything else, but wearing my black and purple jersey that I bought in 2001…Here’s to hoping that the old-school jersey brings back the 2001 talent (not the players- just the winning team.)

:-)

Here comes the umpiring AGAIN.

First a tight zone, now an OBVIOUS blown call at 2nd.

Montero should have gotten a CS there.

They opened a Trader Joe’s down the street, so we were rejoicing in that. ;-)

Good to see Haren escape: this is already several notches better than last night at this point.

There’s some weird Japanese ice cream my wife likes from Trader Joe’s. Though they didn’t have it last time I looked.

I kind of hate this team

Seriously, guys, some consistency would be nice- consistently scoring multiple runs in the first inning, I mean.

Okay, okay, I’ll try to stop complaining. But let’s get a cadre of armed guards to the ballpark, so we can make sure that, this time, this team sticks around and isn’t replaced by the badly designed replicas that have been playing for the past few days.

D-Backs offense explodes!

Actually this is a propane tank car explosion in Kingman back in the 1973. There is a truck you can barely see just to the left of the explosion. My dad was the Superior Court judge that presided over the case. I scanned the actual photograph I have and when I Iooked up the explosion on the Internet I found this accounting with the same photo. 12 firefighters and 1 civilian were killed as a result.

When you say, “the case,” was it deliberate? Or just some kind of public safety thing.

by Jim McLennan on Jun 18, 2008 10:29 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I screwed up the link to the paragraph I found about it on the Internet. This link doesn’t show up when previewing for some reason.

No, it was not deliberate. They were attempting to offload the liquid petroleum and there was a leak in the line. The court case lasted for years and a large copy of the photo with a plaque from the City of Kingman was given to my father when the case was over (settled I imagine) My brother has it in his law office now.

Wouldn't *count* on it

I recall similar thoughts after the 11-1 pasting administered to the Braves on May 23. We then lost six of the next seven. :-( But I will tell you this: it’s a lot better to be on the winning side of a rout.
