Don't have time to write anything much about this one: Mrs. SnakePit just sprung on me the news that we have to be out of the house in twenty minutes, and I am still not quite ready. Well, not quite dressed, actually. However, hopefully we can built on yesterday's excellent pitching performance - and, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, perhaps even score more than four runs. I'll be at the game, so won't be about for the Gameday Thread: expect a full eye-witness report to follow later, however.

Gonna be hard to top last night's game
however good it is, it’s not the joy of coming after that string of losses.
We will meet in Red 3 at the hour of scampering.
What if there is a perfect game
unassisted triple play, and one our guys hits four home runs?
The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
Or we at least get a home run with runners on?
"Look, I'm not a financial expert or anything, but I'm pretty sure that a zeppelin is an excellent investment opportunity."
Woah, let's not get crazy here
The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
If Haren pitch a PG
the triple play would be against us… right? =[

I don't need your logic!

soco's keys to the game
1) I guess watch it?
2) Stretch a bit in anticipation of basketball tonight
3) Dessert?

Today’s lineup:
S. Drew ss .268
C. Young cf .238
O. Hudson 2b .311
C. Tracy 1b .250
M. Reynolds 3b .240
A. Romero lf .231
C. Snyder c .260
J. Salazar rf .254
D. Haren p .130
Tracy at 1st, Romero in lf and Sally in rf against the RHP.
Evening
Going to watch the first few frames from the bath, fielding centre field all afternoon has destroyed me…I’m so unfit :(
So...time for another drink then?
Sally playing over Jupton? Really?
Even the way Upton’s back to swinging the hot bat??
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
TV Guys said Upton was feeling under the weather.
I would be more upset about Romero taking his spot.
Now why
would you be “more upset about Romero taking his spot”? Either way, it’d be Sally and Romero as the corner OFs.
By the way…. interesting how often people feel “under the weather” on a Sunday morning. :-P
Somewhat like how “flu-like symptoms” sound a whole lot like a hangover.
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
very good start… I do like having Drew lead off…
"There are only two seasons: winter and baseball"
-- Bill Veeck
You know what the ridiculous part
about Drew hitting lead off is?
BoMel managed to find the one hitter in the line up that has both a lower OBP and a higher SLG than CY. It boggles the mind.
that’s true… but at least Drew has the tools to have a decent OBP
"There are only two seasons: winter and baseball"
-- Bill Veeck
that’s a good point… and I guess my point is that Drew’s contact rate is much better than CY’s.
"There are only two seasons: winter and baseball"
-- Bill Veeck
I feel safe in assuming
that CY will be a .250-.270/.350/.475 hitter for the foreseeable future.
Drew on the other hand is an enigma. He drew 60 walks last year while sucking, but this year and in ‘06 (when he actually hit) he drew 12 and 14 walks in 200ish at bats. Considering his sketchy minor league numbers, I have no idea what to expect from him.
really
I can’t understand why Trot Nixon isn’t getting a shot right now. He is a veteran that elected to play in the minors on the chance that an injury would give him a chance to play. He brings a bat and in the midst of our worst offensive slump we bring up Romero instead. Anyone know more than I do on this subject?
Trot isn’t even on the 40 man. We would have to make some roster adjustments and risk loosing someone else to do it.
Trot really
should get a shot. He is hitting over .300 in Tucson and that’s in spite of the fact they pitch around him.
Given the team's record
of completely irrational behavior towards Eric Byrnes, one can’t help but think that the powers that be could be afraid of having another “name” player with fan favorite potential take Byrnes’ place in hallowed left field.
It’s sad that I’m now left to wonder if this team is really doing everything in its power to win, but watching Byrnes spend a month playing through an injury that EVERYONE could see required some time off, has really left me to wonder. Does this team want to draw fans by winning or by having on-field mascots?
3 runs?
You mean you can get more than one run from a homerun?
what about CoJack in LF when hes back?

More Runs
I’m greedy and the horrible month of May is over.
agree with Grace
when he says that snyder really smokes some balls..

end of the inning
I can live with a 1-run inning as long as it means we score in all nine.
good R-Ceni catch by Hudson

So...
where did this power surge come from? I don;t remember us having this much power even back in April.
We had the most home runs in the majors
for a large part of April. We have a regular lineup full of players that all have 20+ homer potential and play in one of the best hitting environments in baseball.
The Babybacks have been eating up their vegetables?
We will meet in Red 3 at the hour of scampering.
When the Giants were in town
Brian Wilson brought a big brown bag of them home – the DBacks jumped up and down and hoped he’d toss them a carrot.
Grace is criticizing the "constant buzzering"
for “getting old”.
I wonder if he’s ever listened to one of his broadcasts.
That was a little funny!
Prior really needs to hang up the glove and find something else to do. On the other hand he continues to get paid for doing nothing.

Seems
like a pretty genius move from where I’m standing: Getting paid for doing nothing.

The Diamondbacks are continuing their good pitching
and HR hitting from yesterday and have added some good defence

UA is out. :-\
The Dbacks are winning, THAT’S what’s happening here.
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
yeah...
i was disappointed by ua’s early exit…especially at the hands of ucla.
(i was scouted by ua my sophomore year and then blew out my knee…)

Wow... impressive.
Sorry ‘bout your knees, though. College of William and Mary offered me a track scholarship, but I declined it.

thanks.
i’m okay with it now, though. ua was the only reason i kept pitching through that season…high school softball has it’s share of the high school drama, and it usually isn’t caused by the girls. in our case, it was the coach.

So.... does this mean
we really HAVE returned to early season beisbol?

Unfortunately
Mrs. SnakePit balked at the second mortgage it’d take to buy that many beers at Chase. :-)
right now, i’m PRAYING that pena doesn’t screw this one up too.
i love you, tony pena.

That'd be extremely impressive
with a 5 run lead.
Or were you just talking about the shutout?

B2B shutouts
for the first time since May of ‘06.
Me likey.
Also, I really really like Haren answering the type of outing that Webby had yesterday with a gem of his own.

I think the D'Backs just hate May
for some strange reason
We will meet in Red 3 at the hour of scampering.
btw in SF
it’s amazing how the Padres love to play the low-scoring-extra-innings-games…

I fixed it for you
it’s amazing how the Padres love to play lose the low-scoring-extra-innings-games…
They score two in the top of the tenth, then let the Giants score three in the bottom. Hoffman takes another loss.
Dear Chad Tracy,
Welcome back.
"Look, I'm not a financial expert or anything, but I'm pretty sure that a zeppelin is an excellent investment opportunity."
Just got home from the game. Gee, Haren, couldn’t you have sped it up like Webb did? Just kidding. It also seemed quick, probably because the Nats didn’t do squat. We should have swept them, darnit!
very poor home stand:
2-4.
We know how bad this team is on the road, we really needed a better showing on the home front.
