AZ SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 5

WEEK 5 RESULTS

AZ SnakePit 4, 7-2 Offsuiters 5
7-2 only got one Win, from Cliff Lee, but that was enough for a tie and overall victory. They were clearly ahead in hitting thanks to Berkman [7 R, 8 RBI], but Nathan's four saves and zero ERA helped the Pit fight back on the mound. Taveras stole five for them; Wilson had 2 saves and 7 K's for 7-2.

Douchebaggery 3, Tucson Myth 5
Myth pulled out their first win of the season, and can largely thank Saunders' two Wins and Utley's three HR for that. They swept hitting, as Douche batted only .237, and held on tie in W and Sv. Marcum and Wellemeyer each had a Win and 9 K's for Douche, who had a 1.77 ERA.

dbacktom 6, The Fighting Amish 3
tom pulled off an upset, because of great all-round pitching that gave them a 1.01 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. Santana (Amish) and Smith (tom) each fanned 15. tom hit just .226 with two homers, but Loney (9 RBI) and Figgins (4 SB) helped out. Markakis had two homers for Amish.

Adriano Rosario's 5, Blonde Streaks 4
Neither team held a big advantage here: Braun (Rosario) had 2 HR and 9 RBI, while Cust (Blonde) homered three times. Similarly, on the mound, Hamels (Rosario) had a W and 11 K's; Haren, a W and 12 K's. Gagne's two saves were the only ones recorded, and allowed Rosario to snatch victory.

Crazy VIII's 8, Wimboes Barmy Army 2
VIII had little trouble, after taking all five hitting categories, behind Kemp (7 R, 11 RBI, 6 SB) and an overall BA of .317. Army put up more resistance in pitching, with Cook getting two Wins, but Peavy (W + 8 K) and Rodriguez (3 saves) countered for VIII. A.Gonzalez had four homers for them too.

Kapsaicin Kids 4, Arizona Muugens 5
Neither side had an ERA below five, but Muugens four wins stopped Kids from sweeping, with Soria notching two saves and a zero ERA. The roles were reversed at the plate, as Kids only managed a split of SB, as Uggla had four HR and 8 RBI for Muugens, and Soto drove in nine.

Shenanigans 2.0 6, Desert Storm BC 4
Shen hit for power (8 HR) more than average (.213), but it was enough for victory - Bonser gave them a W and 13 K's on the mound. Storm got three saves and a zero ERA from Rauch, but their hitters combined for only three homers and 15 RBI this week. Cano and Jackson had 2 HR for Shen.

last place 2, Desert Dingleberries 8
last's fate was largely sealed by a 7.94 ERA, but Desert were strong on offense too, Granderson homering three times and McLouth scoring eight. Quentin had 3 R, 3 RBI and 3 HR for last, and Isringhausen two saves. Redding was Desert's best pitcher, posting a Win and seven K's.

warlords 7, Ignatius J. Rallies 2
Papelbon vultured up two wins for war, and Halladay fanned 13, as they dominated pitching. Neither team hit particularly well, combining for 38 runs and 39 RBI, with no-one managing more than five in either category. Sizemore homered twice for Rallies, and Reyes stole four for war.

GregSchulteOverdrive 9, SHUperMen 0
Schulte fell one Win short of total victory, but were pushed close in a number of categories, taking BA by .003 and ERA by 0.11. They got three HR and eight RBI from Pence, plus a Win and 11 K's from Cain. Sheets had a Win and 8 K's for Shu, helping them just avoid annihilation.

Huh.

I think I’ve won every week still. And I think three of them have been 5-4, so I’m really just skating on thin ice here.

I’ll take it anyway.

frankly I was lucky to only lose 3-6. I was down 8/9-0 most of the week.
