Upcoming roster moves
Both Davis and Tracy are coming to the end of their rehab assignments down in Tucson, and are expected to rejoin the team during the road-trip to Florida and Atlanta that begins after this series. This will require various roster moves to be made as a result - and in the case of Tracy, we will also have to work out what his role is going to be on the team.
Discuss. :-)
Personally, I'd send Scherzer back down to Tucson, so he can continue to stretch out as a starter. Odds are, we will need a sixth man at some point over the rest of the season, and if he goes to our bullpen and starts throwing 15-20 pitch outings, I'm not sure how available he will be for a start. Another possibility might be Peña, as he does actually have a minor-league option left, if I remember - Scherzer could then fill basically the same role, as set-up man for Lyon. I think Slaten might have an option left too, as this is his third season in the majors. If we drop Medders or EdGon, both of them would have to go through waivers. Odds are they wouldn't make it, so we'd be kissing them goodbye.
i presume Hammock will be sent down when Chad returns, having seen the plate just twice this month: The challenge there will be to get Tracy's bat into the lineup. I would love to see him in the lineup playing third-base; lost in the fuss about Byrnes has been the fact that Mark Reynolds has been in almost as horrific a slump of late. He got a 'mental health' day off yesterday, but since April 23rd, he is hitting only .149 [11-for -74] with 35 K's and only eight walks. However, Tracy has been playing mostly 1B and DH in his time at Tucson, and I am uncertain how well his knees would be up to playing at the hot corner. He could be used to spell Jackson at first against RHP - Conor's line against them is "only" .287/.368/.521, compared to the monstrous stats he's put up facing lefties [.400/.500/.575, albeit in only 50 PA's].

I would have to go with....
Scherzer going back to AAA. He still has room to grow and as you made the point very well it would not be good to see him have 15 – 20 pitch outings. I am sure we would see him again this year in our rotation when others are in need of time for healing.
As far as who goes down when Tracy comes back up, Hammock will probably be the guy that goes down but If we sent Burke down I wouldn’t be too upset! We gave Augie as our back up at 2nd and SS. Tracy can play both 3B and 1B. We could do without Burke.

With Medders turning back into a pumpkin
I think we’ll see Scherzer in the bullpen sooner or later. The team wants him to continue working as a starter, but at the same time they want to make sure he doesn’t max out his 150ish IP cap before September.
The big question will be whether or not they jettison Medders now or a few weeks from now.

My roster move would be to get someone who doesn't make errors every other game.
Brandon Webb, do I need to say more?

Any suggestions?

It was more of a joke, then a suggestion.

Well, if we go to get a position player,
I would certainly support getting somebody who doesn’t make errors every other game. So, it’s a good suggestion.

Well, if Ed-Gon had options left then I would rather see Max coming out of the pen and send Edgar down. But, since that’s not the case and someone would pick Edgar up off the waiver wire then I’d have to say that we send Max down. Now, if we could deal Edgar for anything of value then it would make sense to keep Max in the ‘pen. Max has shown me that he has a very fine fastball but is still inconsistent with locating it and his slider and change could use some work. He could use more time in AAA.

Send Max down.
Pretty impressive month for the kid, but I’d much prefer to see him seasoned as a starter than languishing in the bullpen.
If that was indeed Scherzer’s last start, here’s how his big-league line looks to date:
0-2, 2.33 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 7 BB/23 K
