Surely ,it's way past April Fool's Day?
I laughed my socks off at this, then went .
"Wait, it's serious"
So what do you think? It's be great for all the other teams having that mastodon in the outfield but haven't the Rockies suffered enough?
I can't see him playing again frankly, who wants to take on that burden?
Surely, the only possible opening for him is a DH, and hello! the Rockies are in the NL.

I just don't see him getting a job
Which is a real shame, no I’m actually serious (waits to be pelted)
Until the guy gets convicted of something I don’t see why he’s being frozen out. At this stage in his career if it was about ego or money he would have retired on top as the HR King but it seems the guy just wants to play baseball. How a team like the Mariners haven’t signed him staggers me, but I don’t see him doing that well in Colorado or in the NL.
I think Bonds has just become the target for general hatered towards the steroids era. Andy Petite has ADMITTED he cheated and I barely hear a bad word about the guy. Bonds on the other hand has never been convicted and denies the allegations to the point where he’s been willing to trade in a life of fame and fortune to go to prison for it (ok that doesn’t mean he’s telling the truth but everyone is innocent until proven guilty) If he has done wrong he deserves to be punished but it’s just as much the Giants/MLB’s fault for allowing what was allegedly going on to keep going for years and years.
If he comes back he’s going to be tested frequently so it’s not as if he’s going to come back and cheat (again?) so just let the guy have a shot see how he performs on the field and be done with it. This whole off field argument is absolute garbage as teams have taken on far worse and I can’t beleive Bonds is going to demand to be the centre of attention given just how little he seems to be wanted right now.

I agree with this
there are countless numbers of AL teams with awful 1B/DH tandems that they’re shooting themselves in the foot by not signing Bonds. He’s still one of the best bats in the game and when you already have “steroid guys” like Sheffield and Giambi on your rosters, to draw the line at Bonds reeks of pettiness and shortsightedness.

Except, even beyond the whole PR issue, is the question of what you do, knowing that he might be serving time in the very near future…. how are his knees doing, as well?

It's a rather odd situation
There are plenty of teams right now that could use him in LF/Dh. Hell, I’d rather have Barry playing LF over Byrnes at this point.

I guess...
He did put up a .276/.480/.565 line last year, with 132 walks and only 54 strike outs. He also knocked out 28 home runs. As a 42 year old. Even if he continued to decline at his current rate, he’d still be more valueable to the team than Byrnes.

Also,
this moron is a CRIME WRITER, not a sportswriter. Being a member of a Fantasy baseball league from the University of Missouri does NOT give him any particularly good insight. If anything, signing Bonds would be a stopgap step backwards for a team that’s actively trying to get younger. Also, I love his condescension for the “Rocky Mountain states” and their backwards people.
