AZ SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 6

Okay, I took yesterday entirely off - and that included forgetting about the Fantasy Baseball round-up. So, a little late, here you go...

Week Six Results

AZ SnakePit 4, Adriano Rosario's 6
Not a great pitching matchup, with Snake's 5.37 ERA enough to win: Matsuzaka got two wins for them, but Cueto fanned 13 for Adriano and Wood get three saves. They also got four SB and a .360 average from Suzuki, but Atkins hit .423 and scored five runs for Snake. Braun (Adriano) had two HR.

Douchebaggery 4, 7-2 Offsuiters 2
R, HR, W and Sv all ended even in this match-up, but Youkilis was the star, with five HR and 10 RBI for Douche - Berkman scored 10 for 7-2, who batted .305. Vazquez had a W and 15 K for Douche, and they had a 2.66 ERA overall. Lee had a win and a zero ERA for 7-2 as well as seven K's.

dbacktom 9, Tucson Myth 1
Myth took a firestorm from tom, winning only ERA, and that by just 0.03. tom swept hitting, batting .318 for the week, though only had four homers and 20 RBI: Crawford had five runs and four SB. They got a W and 16 K's from Santana. Garza posted a 1.35 ERA for Myth, to get them their sole point.

The Fighting Amish 5, SHUperMen 4
SB were tied at four, and that was enough to give Amish overall victory, by the narrowest margin. SHU got eight runs and three SB from Ramirez, but Gorden drove in seven for Amish. They also piled up seven saves, including three from Capps, but SHU took Wins and K's, with Sheets fanning six.

Crazy VIII's 4, Blonde Streaks 5
Blonde got their first win of the year, stunning VIII despite three homers from Church and eight RBI by Beltran. Blonde almost swept pitching, getting a W and 9 K's from Sabathia and posting a 1.09 WHIP overall. They got crucial saves from Jenks and Casilla, to split that category and take victory.

Kapsaicin Kids 3, Wimboes Barmy Army 7
Despite Overbay's triple-play, Army dominated at the plate; they hit just .257 with 3 HR, but that was enough: Lee drove in nine for them. Kids did better on the mound - Fuentes has two saves - but a 2.25 ERA for Army was evidence of a good week there too. Jurrjens had a W and eight K's.

Shenanigans 2.0 2, Arizona Muugens 7
Muugens hit for power (10 HR, four from Uggla) but not average (.215), and it was mostly their pitching staff (2.12 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) that won them this week's contest. Dempster had 14 K's and Betancourt two saves; Young had a W and 11 K's for Shen, but their arms generally struggled.

last place 1, Desert Storm BC 9
last endured a Storm surge, winning only ERA, though a number of categories were close - the margin was one in W and Sv, and two in RBI. Storm have Anderson [three HR, ten RBI] to thank, and got 15 K's from Jimenez. last's top player was Bannister (W+ 8 K); Dye also had 3 HR for Storm.

warlords 6, Desert Dingleberries 3
war took BA by a mere .001, and also took RBI by one and R by two - Kinsler (.379, 7 R, 4 RBI) was crucial in all three categories. Desert got a W and 11 K's from Perez, but had a 6.70 ERA for the week, so war were able to hold both there and in WHIP, despite struggles of their own on the mound.

GregSchulteOverdrive 6, Ignatius J. Rallies 4
Greg's pitching was not brilliant this week, but was good enough - Volquez W and 10 K, along with a zero ERA, was a big help there. Rallies got three homers from Lowell and Young, but three stolen-bases for Pence and a .309 BA in total gave Greg an important edge on their way to the win.

A question

We’ve been posting buddies for a while now, and I hope I can ask a question and not get shot down. Why and how did “Douchebag” and “Douchebaggery” come into popular usage? What does it represent? I take it that it’s an insult, but I’m not sure where that phrase comes from. (Yes, I know what an actual douchebag is, TYVM.) Can somebody (NOT you, Kishi!!) explain it to me?

Excuse me, I have to go tell some kids to get off my lawn.

It's like living with a six-year old.

The first time I remember it being used

was in junior high after South Park came out. I don’t know if they started it but that’s what I remember.

The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.

My personal feeling ..

Is that being a douchebag is nowhere near as bad as being a douchenozzle, so I have no qualms using the phrase at any time. I mean, other than in front of Grandma.

And as for Douchebaggery, I just like to make unusual words a verb.

well… another week atop the standings. I’m very, very fortunate that is the case since I didn’t lead at all this week until the totals were in and was but a speck in SHU’s rear view mirror most of the week.

Really

It’s about time my team had a decent win margin. Now if Verlander and Cueto stop sucking…

Ah well.

Winning streak was fun while it lasted. Four ties seems very bizarre to me.

Come on, man!

last place really needs to step it down a notch.
