LOB
I think: that the box scores are confusing some people regarding left on base figures. Many will show a LOB for each player and some have a LOB for the team. The LOBs for each player are not the same as LOBs for the team. One example: let's say that it's the 1st inning and the lead off hitter reaches base. If the next three batters make outs without the lead off guy scoring then many box scores will list that as a LOB for batters 2-4 which would equal 3 LOB. But, actually there was only one team LOB, the lead off guy. I hope this helps.

Question
If a player comes up with two men on and one out, then grounds into a double-play, does he get tagged with two men LOB or just the one? I would presume it's only one, but it seems odd that his stats are actually helped in this area by hitting in to a twin-killing...

Just one.
A LOB is a base runner that does not score or is not put out.

Layout bug question
Foulpole, we noticed a layout bug with this FanShot, which we've fixed for now. If you have a minute, could you describe to what you remember about how you created this post? Did you use the FanShot bookmarklet after highlighting text on a web page, or manually choose to post it as a "Chat" from the New Fanshot screen?
You can reply here or to bugreport AT sb nation DOT com. Any comment you can make would be helpful as we try to make things bug-free and easier to use. Thanks!

I just clicked on the FanShot and started typing. I didn't use any bookmarklet thing (?) or highlight any text from another web page either.
I typed in my message and then hit the send or post button (whatever it's called ). At first I got an error message that my post didn't include a website/ link or something like that. Then I noticed the text (?) tab at the top right and clicked it.
I have no idea how it went to the front page?
I may have copied the text that I wrote in the post and pasted it to the new text tab after I got the error message but I don't recall.
I hope this helps.

thanks for the explanation.
This is a big help. One more question - did you choose to post the FanShot as a Chat, or did it default to Chat formatting after you tried to post?
We've fixed some of the FanShot code so that Chat formatted posts won't break things... but I'm also wondering if maybe you intended to post a Quote FanShot... or just a regular FanPost text entry.
With all these action links and new terms, things can be a bit confusing.
Oh, regarding the bookmarket: the whole idea with FanShots is to make it easy to send links, quotes, videos and images to the site. When logged in, you should see a little link at the top of the FanShots page content with brief instructions on how to add the FanShot bookmarklet to your browser's bookmark bar.
Once added, try visiting a YouTube page or highlighting some text in an article before you press that link on your browser bar - the bookmarklet should recognize the type of content and allow you to share it with one click. It should make posting easy and fun - but I think we need to do a better job of explaining the benefits of setting it up.

I have to commend you on that JavaScript, by the way.
Really makes posting FanShots quick 'n painless.

Yeah
It doesn't really help his stats to not give him an extra LOB for a DP because he picks up the far worse stat of a GIDP. Sorta like how a strikeout leads to an out, but doesn't hurt a guy's BABIP, relative to if he had grounded or flown out.
I suppose you could add all of a guy's GIDPs to his LOBs if you wanted the truer number, though.

All stats have their weaknesses. Don't get too caught up in any one of them.

did you choose to post the FanShot as a Chat, or did it default to Chat formatting after you tried to post?
I clicked the New Fanshot link and started typing. When I finished I clicked the publish key and received an error message. At that point I manually clicked the chat tab at the upper right side. It did not default to chat.
