The video of Micah’s homer is great.

You realize, of course
That the Doctor gets clocked in the face right after saying that.
Don't blink; blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink. Good luck!
If this was the AL
Would Micha hit during his starts and a better defensive player get the start that would sit?
And Burke K's

That cat is freaky looking

It's not like I don't instantly "psych" it

Not to be a downer, but....
I hadn’t really given it a thought until my friend that loves the Giants asked, “Have the Dbacks played a team with a winning record?” and now that I look at it, it is sort of a depressing “no”
This can be looked at two ways:
1. the Dbacks are way overrated because they have started with a weak schedule
2. the west is beating the crap out of each other and thus making it tough to have a winning record.
I am thinking it more of the second option, but in a way does it matter? If the west sucks and the Dbacks own the west, then so be it, but I think the next 10 games will be interesting (NYM, PHI and Cubs) to see how they stack up.
I did not really get into the other teams records against East and Central, but I do know that the Dodgers were swept by ATL but the Giants really beat up on Cards. I guess we have a lot of season to figure out who is legit or not.
I just figured I would throw it out there to see what you all thought (although you are obviously biased like myself).
I think it doesn't really matter
A win is the same no matter whether it is against a team with a winning or a losing record. That said, given that we have yet to play any teams with winning records, we should not raise our expectations too high. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
It can also be said that we never face the aces of many teams, but hey I rather be lucky than good anytime of the week!
We can be legit or not, as long as we win :)
by singaporedbacksfan on Apr 30, 2008 8:05 PM EDT up reply actions
Also
the Rox swept the Braves.
I don’t think we’ll be nearly this dominating during the next stretch, but I definitely think we’re for real.
Take this series, for example. The Astros only managed a 2 run victory over our #5 starter, a flyball guy pitching at a hitter’s park, who was then demoted to the bullpen. Today, the Astros shelled our ostensible #3/4 guy, and 44 year old former ace, and scored a total of 7 runs against us. Shawn Chacon came in with an ERA in the 2s and a streak of quality starts. It wasn’t enough to beat us.
Now, of COURSE, the ‘Stros are under .500, but they’re not awful. They’re now 13-16.
Monday, we won with dominant pitching. Today, we won with dominant and timely hitting. That’s the true mark of a good team—they can win any sort of game.
Oh, by the way—Rox lost to the Gnats, 3-2; Atkins and Holliday went 0-9.
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
I will give you any odds you want
The Rockies and Dodgers will have winning records by the end of the season. The Padres will probably be around there as well. And even if they don’t, it’s only because we keep beating on them :)
Agreed. Also, I'd sacrifice the Padres having a winning record...
...if it meant we got to keep beating on them.
;-)

I don't know if you've heard this
Some bizarre comments from the Astros manager.
“We can’t get the stinking pitcher out, we’re in trouble,” Cooper said after the game. “My goodness, a two-run lead and we can’t even get out of the stinking inning. That’s unacceptable, and it won’t happen again, I can promise you that. You get these guys down, you’ve got them 4-0, 6-2, and we let them back in the game. It won’t happen again. It definitely won’t happen again.”
“All [Borkowski’s] got to do, he’s got one right-handed hitter to get out, and that happens to be a pitcher,” Cooper said. “And we can’t make a pitch to get him out. And on the first pitch. It’s unacceptable. And I won’t stand for it no more.”
WTF? Is Borkowski going to wake up with a bloody horse head in his bed tomorrow? Sounds like it to me :-)
They let him off the hook!

Well I can understand that
But the “It definitely won’t happen again” and “I won’t stand for it no more” comments are really weird.
How will he make sure it doesn’t happen again? :)
And, in the same article, Brad Ausmus is talking about how the Astros weren’t treating Micah like your average pitcher. Either he’s the kind of batter they need to prepare more for, or he’s just another stinkin’ pitcher. Make up your mind, Astros.
I think we should start a new sidebar tracker- who’s going to end up with the most: Webb with wins, Zito with losses, or Chacon with no decisions. They’re all at 6 right now.
"Hold on a minute, there are three important, brilliant, and complicated reasons why you should listen to me."
Also:
The article mentions Micah was limping on his home run trot- was he really? I don’t recall noticing it when I watched the replay, but I was probably so flush with glee that I could have missed it. But he hardly seemed to be pulling a Kirk Gibson.
"Hold on a minute, there are three important, brilliant, and complicated reasons why you should listen to me."
After the game...
He was talking with Todd Walsh and said he was limping a little going to first, but adrenaline kicked in and he went around smoothly the rest of the way.
... I lost a cat today ... :(
So young, so friendly… I miss him a ton…. it’s still just setting in….

Just got home. Watched the highlights. Crazy game! Micah is ridiculous! Think the DBacks will have him DH during interleague? Wouldn’t that be hilarious? I had Gameday up at work. I laughed when it said Micah was pinch hitting. I said to my co-worker, “Hey, he hasn’t hit a homer yet this season.” Bam! Ha.
I love this team. I was on lunch break during the 3rd inning. so I turned the game on the radio. I thought, “They are only down by 3. They can come back, no problem!” What a change from last year. This April went a long way towards making up for that 111-loss season. Really fun!
