Congrats to the Big Unit
On picking up career win 285, an amazing feat as he marches on towards 300!
The greatest D-Back of all time (my opinion) and is starting to show signs that he has some gas left in the tank. 3 starts and an ERA under 3.00, lets hope he stays healthy.
Webb, Haren, Owings, Unit and hopefully DD looks damn good.
Does Randy get to 300? Can we get 25 starts out of that left arm?

Yes,
the maddest of props go to The Unit.
I don’t think that Randy reaches 300, unfortunately. But I do think we can get 25 starts outta him.
So…. assuming that RJ doesn’t wear a Yankees or Astros or Expos cap when he gets inducted into the HOF, does he go in as a Dback, or a Mariner?
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Hmm… I think D’back – it was his years in Arizona that catapulted him from talented but raw to acknowledged superstar. Not to mention the ring, and WS co-MVP.
Yeah.
I believe he’s got one fewer season with AZ than Seattle, and as of this writing, about 12 fewer wins; I haven’t checked the K numbers. But he has more Cy Youngs, a WS ring, a WS co-MVP, (at least) 4 division titles (basically, every division title this franchise has ever won he’s been a contributor), not to mention a Perfect Game. He did have a no-hitter with Seattle, but still. He also became the first pitcher in baseball history to strike out 300 batters in the same season as one of his teammates. (With Schill, in 2002) He practically owns every single franchise starting pitching record. He’ll probably retire a Dback, and I don’t know that any moment in his career will ever be as well-remembered as coming in to relieve Schilling in WS game 7.
Except for maybe killing that poor bird. But even then, he was a Dback.

Yeah, I think he goes in as a D'back
and I can’t think anyone else that would better to be our first one.
The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
Even when he went to NY
the media was saying that he would eventually enter the HoF as a D’back. Now, that’s just media talk, but everything I’ve ever heard has indicated that he would lean towards Arizona. I even remember reports that his Yankee contract required NY to provide him with Arizona season tickets after he retired. If he has any say, I believe he’ll be Arizona’s first entry.

"All the special things of my career, from an individual standpoint, have happened in Arizona."
—Randy Johnson, 2006
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
My first thought when we signed him first time
was.”Our first Hall Of famer”
We will meet in Red 3 at the hour of scampering.
25 Starts?
Johnson had a terrible outing last night (4/30 vs the ‘Stros). Sherzer is going into the rotation. What happens when DD comes back? I think the most likely result is Sherzer to the pen, but if Johnson is struggling and Sherzer is pitching well, could Johnson lose starts to the rookie?
Well,
You can’t move RJ to the pen, no matter how inconsistent he is. At this point in his career, he just won’t do it; he’d probably retire instead. So, I doubt that Scherzer directly takes RJ’s starts away.
I think it’s more likely that Double D gets moved to the ‘pen.
Nice to have an embarrassment of riches, isn’t it??
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
could you imagine the Unit as a closer though?
man that would be disgusting. He could also add a few years on his career in that position as well.

I've always wondered about that too.
It seems like it’d be a natural fit as he wound down his career. Hell, he could even pick up a couple straggler wins that way.
Well
again, I think The Unit’s ego would require him to be a closer. I can’t really see him agreeing to be a setup guy.

I think his ego
would require him to want to be a closer. There’s no demoting to the back of the bullpen. He’d have to go there willingly.

Doubt it.
Nice though it would be, I think getting four days off between outings is much better on his back than the prospect of pitching consecutive days.
You could pitch Scherzer for 4 innings and Davis for 4 innings.
Brandon Webb, do I need to say more?
How about
We take Micah out of the rotation, have him play in the field and then he can just be our 1 man bullpen? ;)
Byrnes.
He can be our $30 million benchwarmer.
In all seriousness though, if/when O-Dawg leaves, what about trying to move Reynolds to 2nd and letting Tracy play 3rd? (Presuming we can count on him to stay injury-free) Burke is a black hole with a bat right now and his track record doesn’t suggest he’ll get any better. Would Reynolds’ D be far too much of a liability as a center infielder??
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
Reynolds
played shortstop at UVa, so it wouldn’t be TOO much of a stretch. Then again, he’d be switching to the other side of the field. But he’s still young, and he’s got more speed than most people give him credit for.
Max Scherzer is all out of bubblegum.
If Reynolds has the speed to play 2nd and if Tracy can stay healthy then I'm all for it.
IF.
Brandon Webb, do I need to say more?
