We're back!

Kinda… Sorry for the interruption to service. Let’s see if our resurrection also awakens the D-backs bats…

by Jim McLennan on Apr 24, 2008 12:34 AM EDT reply actions

We're live?

Are we live?

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

by DbacksSkins on Apr 24, 2008 12:35 AM EDT reply actions

Seems to be working

Which is more than can be said for the Diamondbacks; they get the tying run to the place with one out, but Young K’s and Byrnes pops out. Didn’t see either of those coming. :-(

by Jim McLennan on Apr 24, 2008 12:46 AM EDT reply actions

Hmm.

It’s odd seeing things this quiet. Obviously there are extenuating circumstances, but still.

by Azreous on Apr 24, 2008 12:46 AM EDT reply actions

Yup.

Massive fail on our part. Single digits so far.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

How's that for obscure, nerdy reference.

This is Free Trader Snakepit, calling anyone. . .Mayday, Mayday. . . we are under attack. . . starting pitcher is gone. . website not responding . . . Mayday. . . losing offense fast. . .calling anyone. . .please help. . . This is Free Trader Snakepit. . . Mayday. . .

How’s that for your obscure, nerdy reference.

What's that from?

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

by DbacksSkins on Apr 24, 2008 12:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Slight paraphrase (obviously) from the RPG Traveller.

Interesting system, I played it once. As I understand it, it is entirely possible that your character can die while you’re in the process of building them, forcing you to start all over.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

by kishi on Apr 24, 2008 12:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Back up and running I see.

Well, the Rockies got beat by the Cubs while SF and SD are in extras.

Let’s hope for another marathon for the Padres as they are our next opponent.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 12:48 AM EDT reply actions

Corpas blew his fourth save. I think they’re be organizing lynch mobs on Purple Row.

Habeas Corpas!!

Show me the Corpas!!

Good for the D-backs, bad for my fantasy team.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 12:52 AM EDT up reply actions

NL West closers (current and former) kind of seem to suck so far this season.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

by kishi on Apr 24, 2008 12:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Corpas and Papa Grande for sure. Hoffman had a couple of good outings in a row.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 1:00 AM EDT up reply actions

I just heard that Hoffman gave up the tying run on a Molina bomb in tonight’s game.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Looking at the stats, the leaders in blown saves are Gagne and Corpas, (both with 4), followed by Valverde. Lyon, Fuentes, and Hoffman all have two blown saves now.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

by kishi on Apr 24, 2008 1:04 AM EDT up reply actions

Wow...

...that IS impressive…. pretty good record of FAIL by current and former NL West closers.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

Really, I always love to see Gagne fail.

You can’t get much “former” than Gagne. ;-)

Reynolds layed off of the low and away 0-0 slider. That’s nice to see. He’s doing much better with that this year.

I’m around too! FINALLY! Not that we have anything good to talk about though.

If we lose, I blame it on the Snakepit being down, which is obviously a product of sabotage by Dodgers fans.

Yep, I do too

and on Mark Grace’s use of the not-to-be-said Cruz nickname, but at least he apologized for that.

long time viewer first time poster. (Im the only fan that lives in bosteon, im rockin the webb jersey all the time) I also rock the new MVP Upton jersey) the west is no good, one loss means nothing also, we have the best 1-3 staff in the game, 110 wins should not be a problem…the suns will win two at home…grace is god

Howdy, welcome!

You came here on quite a night though. Hope to see you around.

by snakecharmer on Apr 24, 2008 1:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Welcome!!

Batster lives in Boston too, though.

Winning 110 games might be a stretch….

by kishi on Apr 24, 2008 1:05 AM EDT up reply actions

It seems like the umpires have been pretty lousy this series.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

by kishi on Apr 24, 2008 1:08 AM EDT up reply actions

And

the Giants series, too.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

by DbacksSkins on Apr 24, 2008 1:09 AM EDT up reply actions

They haven’t had much of a chance yet this series ;) but, this game at least, yeah.

by snakecharmer on Apr 24, 2008 1:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Right.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

Don't sell him short.

He IS something. Like 300 lbs of something.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

by DbacksSkins on Apr 24, 2008 1:09 AM EDT reply actions

And

now that he finally got a hit, the Dodgers have even taken THAT away from us….

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

by DbacksSkins on Apr 24, 2008 1:15 AM EDT up reply actions

Damn

and now that’s gone too. :(

I take the blame for that one.

by snakecharmer on Apr 24, 2008 1:15 AM EDT up reply actions

Well, the Dodgers used three of their best RPs tonight. In the 1st game of this seriers. That could help for the next two games. their pen isn’t as deep as ours.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 1:17 AM EDT up reply actions

We only play them

one more game, tomorrow.

And EdGon is starting. :-\

but you live in Boston, you’re going to see every Sox or Yankee game ever on tv. :)

Dude,

I demand that you withdraw the use of that smiley. It’s NOT funny.

More of a rueful smile

But I can’t find the keyboard shortcut for that.

by snakecharmer on Apr 24, 2008 1:24 AM EDT up reply actions

There.

Blue is finally giving us the same strike zone as the Dodgers.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

That was so bush league.

That’s just putrid.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 1:30 AM EDT up reply actions

His defense has been suspect since the very beginning… within his first few games he made several errors. He hasn’t looked much better this year.

by snakecharmer on Apr 24, 2008 1:33 AM EDT up reply actions

He definitly needs to work on it but that hot dog BS has got to go NOW!

Great

They bring in Saito to protect a 5 run lead. Just what we needed.

by singaporedbacksfan on Apr 24, 2008 1:33 AM EDT reply actions

It was only a three run lead when they brought him in.

We have J-Up to thank for that.

by foulpole on Apr 24, 2008 1:34 AM EDT up reply actions

oh ok .. was out for lunch and I just got back… My bad.

by singaporedbacksfan on Apr 24, 2008 1:36 AM EDT up reply actions

What makes me so made is we are the best team in the game and only have about 22,000 fans a games, whats that???also will that new train thing help, what do you think, by the way brother is at ASU and he says he will see more games because of the accesiblity.

by UptonMVP on Apr 24, 2008 1:34 AM EDT reply actions

The attendance issues have been addressed

and the issue is pretty long and complex. Part of it is Phoenix is a young town, both in the sense that most people aren’t from here originally and don’t have much loyalty to anything Phoenix, and that the Diamondbacks are young and so don’t have as large a hardcore base as some other franchises. Add in the fact that Phoenix is more spread out than many other cities, though not as bad as LA, and that large bunches of the population base hail from fairly significant corners of the Valley: Scottsdale, Glendale, Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert/Hillbilly Country are all far enough out to be a negative for a casual fan. Add in the newer wrinkle of ever rising gas prices and a weakening dollar, amongst other economic slowdowns, you have a situation that doesn’t necessarily result in big crowds.

The only way to build big crowds consistently is to be consistently good. People will get used to the idea of going to games, and that will build the fanbase.

The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
