He's right!
Eric "Captain America" Byrnes, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks: Byrnes was known by this colorful, animated nickname when starring for the Licey Tigers in the Dominican winter leagues, and it's perfect to describe his all-out, hair-on-fire style of play. But somehow the name hasn't been brought back to the States, where he's tragically known as "Byrnsie." D-backs fans, you have the power to change this.

Doug Miller is right. I know we've tried to find a new nickname for EB but I don't believe that we had a solid list of suggestions. I move that we call EB, Captain America until something better arises. Suggestions? Critiques?

Captain America works,
it’s just a little bit too long. I was reading that article last night as well. I think Bam Bam would work in lieu of Captain America.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
how bout just Cap?

I don't want him to get shot
and then have O-Dawg find a letter latter from him.
“Dammit, Byrnes…”
The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
I think comic book characters should be this year’s theme. We’ve already got Captain America, Snyderman, and Thor.
"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."
And Cruz is Ghost Rider
as per Grace and Sutton.
The boys in Sedona Red slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away with some of the lovely ladies who witnessed the disturbance.
I think I do agree,
even tho Cruz ended up with an awful game when they named him that.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Drew
as Wolverine
Melvin as Xavier.
and some of the defensive gems by o-dawg, he could be magneto

BoMel could be just plain old X.
CoJack could be the Juggernaut, bitch!
CY could be Nightcrawler, he’s so fast it seems like he just appears under the ball

Agreed.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Drew is most certainly NOT Wolverine, despite foulpole's nickname "Wolf".
Drew is more like Peter Parker. I like O-Dawg as Magneto, though.
Mark Reynolds as Thor? Eric Byrnes as Captain America? Justin Upton as Colossus?
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Randy Johnson as Wolverine? He’s old and grizzled.
"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."
No.
Wolverine would NEVER lose a step at age 44. Or age 444.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
RJ is more like
Old Man River, or something like that.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Actually
The Punisher?
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Get some cultural relevance
From the linked article:
Francisco “K-Rod” Rodriguez, P, Los Angeles Angels: It’s a great thing to be a 20-year-old September call-up who blows away everyone in the playoffs and helps win a franchise’s first World Series. It also earned him a much better nickname than plain old “Frankie.”
Doesn’t this fool know that the nickname for Francisco is not Frankie—it’s Pancho.
It is unfortunate that players in the U.S. seem to have the diminutive “y” or “ie” added to their names in place of a real nickname. I mean, “Webby,” “Miggy,” et.al. I have to agree that it’s unimaginative, to say the least. Not that I don’t use those names myself, though, so who am I to talk?
I'm a fan of B-Dub
for Brandon. But that’s just me

Yeah,
but “Frankie” always makes the guy sound like a prizefighter from the 20s.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
You mean
the guy who has to decide if he’s going to accept the mob’s money and take a dive, or if he’s going to go out swinging?

Also...
I always liked Pancho because he sounds like a guy with a big mustache, a beer gut and a 6-shooter strapped to his hip.

Racist!
Yeah… he does kinda sound like that, doesn’t he?
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
I'm going to hide behind
the “my family is Mexican” banner here. :)
Seriously, though, the Mexican side of my family calls my son “Pancho” because his first name is Francis. I just get Pancho Villa in my mind everytime I hear it.

O rly?
I don’t find that very funny. You don’t see ME making wop or paddy or heeb or frog jokes, do you?? :-P
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
But why not? I make jokes about the Irish all the time, some of them are hilarious!
"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."
I'd venture to say most of them

Yep,
pretty much.
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
I'm a night person
And the Third Shift on Fox has taken to calling him My. Byrnes, so, i’m going with that, personally.
